Pool Closure - January 12 thru March 20.

I just found this information on the WDWInfo site about the pool closing -

Disney's Fort Wilderness
Individual loops at at the Campground are being refurbished one at a time now through mid-2009
The Meadows feature pool at Ft. Wilderness will be closed from 1/12 – 3/20/09

We're going to be there from 03/11 to 03/21, my kids are going to be so disappointed. Will they let us swim in another resort due to the FW pools being closed?

I think you can go to the Wilderness Lodge or the other pool near the cabins.

Yes, you can use the cabin's pool or the feature pool at Wilderness Lodge! Lucky You!

The kids won't be dissapointed with the pool at the Wilderness Lodge..they'll love it! Who knows ...maybe the renovations of the FW pool will finish up a head of schedule.. giving your family a chance to use the facilities.

It's only going to be closed two months I wonder how much of an update they can get in that short time.

I will be amazed if they actually change the footprint of the pool. I am thinking the bulk of the work will be to install the watertower/slide and the splash zone playground. But I've been wrong before... just ask my wife! I'll start backpedaling when someone posts a pic of the pool drained. LOL

The current pool from what I'm told leaks badly so I doubt they will use any of that pool. I'm hoping to see the whole thing tore out.

Previous rumors had it being changed to a zero entry like the AK lodge pool, meaning no more deep end. My guess would be a whole new pool also, I am sure there are some ADA issues that they will have to deal with as well.
I would really like to see a few showers in the bathrooms, many other resorts have them in their pool areas and they are nice to have.

How the heck do they think you and me will ever be completely under water. I'm gonna be down there next week so I will have to look at those plans again. They may need to build you and I our own pool. Oh that's right, it's behind the green fence out behind Mickey's Bakyard BBQ.

The Caribbean Beach Resort now has a newly refurbished pool area. I thought I read here, that the new FW pool would be based on the same idea that Disney used there. Different theme of course. I went and took a look at it, back in October and it was really something. A kiddie waterpark area..complete with its own slide. Which seemed to take A LOT of the very little children OUT of the main themed pool. The pool was a zero entry pool..and had TWO slides. They also added a nice hot tub over as well. If FW has a pool area anything like the one a CBR, we'll be in for a real treat!
I've noticed that none of the pools at the resorts seem to be over 5 feet in their deep end.
The WL pools are about that.
However the quiet pool at the Polynesian was a full 8 feet in the deep end..that was great! I don't think we'll see that in this new FW pool.
