I am a nurse. I usually wear scrubs to work...basically like going to work in your jammies.

I have been working on a special computer project, and I have to go to Boston for 4 days on a business trip!!!!:earseek:

I have no clothing to wear to this type of thing.

Right now, I have a knee length black skirt, a knee length light blue skirt, a blue&black striped top that will go with either of them, and a black blazer. OK...that takes care of one day!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not pooh-sized but let's see..

One day you could wear the blue skirt with the blue/black top..

Another day the black skirt and black blazer perhaps with a white top if you have one..

That leaves 2 more days.. Hmmm.. Could you fit two more tops into your budget? That way you could wear a new top with the blue skirt on the third day - and then a new top with the black skirt on the 4th day..

I think that would work okay - what do you think?

If you can, buy a pair of nice black pants, a nice white top and another top to match the blue skirt.

Day 1--Black skirt, white top, black blazer
Day 2-Blue skirt, new top
Day 3-Black pants, black & blue top, black blazer
Day 4-Blue skirt, white top

If you can't buy anything, search your closet for anything you can to go with the black skirt. Try changing the look with accessories. Good luck!

I always shop at dress barn. Inexpensive nice clothing! Good Luck!!

Cato's is a good place to shop for inexpensive dress clothes too. I've bought several things there.

that might be one of the sweetest shirts EVER! :earseek:

So yeah, my mom shops at Lane Bryant or Catos...

As for me, I'm fashion challenged...I wear the same things all the time....jeans and a tshirt....:p my best friend says Im like a cartoon character with a closet full of the same outfit!

Ok for day two, put the knee length black skirt on your head, wrap the black blazer around your waist and put the blue striped top on your left leg and the black striped top on your right leg. For day three pull the black skirt up to your arm pits and use the blue striped top as shorts with your legs coming out of the arm holes and put the black striped top on your head with your eyes coming out the arm holes. On the forth day, come in with the black blazer draped over your back like a Batman cape and wear the black skirt as a skirt and the light blue skirt as a tube top. On the fifth day you might want to look for another job perhaps as a fashion designer because I can almost guarantee that your fashion sense will be the talk of the town.

I used to travel on business ALOT - you have great basics already!! Black skirt/blazer - contrasting skirt and a blouse to go with both!

What I would add:

Definately a white top - I LOVE a thin knit top if you can find it.. would also go under the blazer.

Do you have a Ross near you? The often have white knit tops that are very reasonable. Also on their clearance racks you can sometimes find a THIN inexpensive blazer or cute cardigan type sweater. I also find when traveling for business a LIGHT WEIGHT sweater set - TWO pieces in a solid is invaluable. You can mix and match. Maybe a lavender that coordinates with the light blue - pink or yellow.

A small print slack or skirt is also nice.

Also - a scarf or two that would go with the solids. OR a chunky necklace/bracelet usually looks pretty cool and changes up an outfit.

With just the addition of one pair of pants (or another skirt) - a sweater set and white knit top you could be gone a MONTH... :hyper:

If cost is a big factor - try a resale shop - Goodwill or Salvation Army.

A couple tips:
Don't take jeans or denim - your bags will get VERY heavy. I also learned to avoid ANY heavy blazers/jackets - plus they get too hot.

Take ONLY flats - and only 2 pairs at the most. Anymore get in the way. And I can't tell you the times I've stumbled around cities w/sore feet and/or broken heels.

Remember to take some scrubs for laying around your hotel room!!

Take a few extra pair of pantyhose if you wear 'em.

REMEMBER - if you're getting there late - the outfit you wear on the plane/train can definately be used again during a meeting day!

Have a blast!!!! Boston's a great town! If you get a chance to eat in any of the restaurants in "Little Italy" do it!!

Laugh - I just paged down and saw Dan's suggestion! It really would go with your two skirts!!!

I just stopped being a manager last fall and have tons of Pooh sized business clothes...wanta make a stop on Cape Cod before your trip to Boston!!??? LOL
Look into Fashion Barn or Dress Barn..Marshalls or T.J. Maxx they often have lots of stuff at good prices. Also Macy's, Filenes and Sears are good, if they have sales going on with coupons etc.
I wore alot of basic black pants and different tops, colors and whites, but comfy and business like, I often used blazers also. Hope you find something, and let us know how you make out!

Well, look at the bright side ... your luggage will be amazingly light! I envy you!

This sooo my brother. He has at least 150 t-shirts! And that is all you see him in. I tried to sign him up for Queer Eye..but they only work out of NY.

So, there is no hope for him.

Here, I'll tell you all a story..make you smile a little.

DH is extremely conscience about his looks. Eyebrows get done, hair gets done, always has someone help him fit his suit right. He feels like he always has to look his best.

Well, he was reading this book (Dress for Sucess For Dummies) and he read out of the book to me, "If you wear V neck it makes your breast look bigger." (I paraphrased a little) Anyway, I said, " I always thought those kind of shirts did that to you."

He said, "That was a tip from the ladies side of the book. I am not talking about me!":earseek:

I had no clue the book was for men and women!LOL!

onecoolmama ... I am LOL. I will have to look at Jean-Paul's breasts later today in a v-neck. HA!

Dan those are the best scrubs I've seen in a long time. Those make me wish I still wore scrubs. Thanks from one jealous nurse,
Christine

I actually have those scrubs!!!! I work in a dental office and yes, we have a fish tank...............the kids love it!

I get quite a few clothes at www.lanebryantcatalog.com

Nice clothing, decently priced (better than in the stores) and the clothes are a little more professional than in their stores as well.

Sears has a large sized area online that has nice things as well as does Just My Size. I've shopped all three of these online stores and I have loved everything I have gotten. You should be able to get a couple of decent tops to go with those skirts for a reasonable price and they come pretty fast too.

i really like the plus section of lord and taylor. it tends to be a bit pricy, but you can usually find some good stuff on sale.

Can you mix and match a little?

That sounds fine to wear. I'm not "pooh sized" myself, but my mom is and she gets a lot of really nice stuff at Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant.

Do you have either of those near you?

Have you been to Boston before??? I work there and grew up in towns around it. :) You'll have a blast!

Be sure to stop by Fanueil Hall and the Aquarium to see the Mickey Statues and if you can, take a Boston Duck tour :)

Yeah I agree with the above posters. Defiantely get a cream/white knit blouse that goes with both the skirts. A black pair of pants and maybe one nice knit color shirt...pink,purple,blue,yellow...whatever color looks best on you!

AZ Jazzy- you are definitely the most creative of the posters!!!!!!!!

I did astop at Dress Barn today and picked up a white top and a black white top. I also have a dressier white top that I am coing to bring, so I htink between everything, and adding a pair of black pants, I should be set. Thank you for your suggestions... I never did think of changing jewelry or scarves. The only accesories one needs with scrubs are a stethoscope and some bandage scissors!!!!!!

Now, on to shoes!!!!!!
