We are travelling to Lake Tahoe after a few days in San Fransisco in a couple of weeks time.

I am Pooh sized  and one of the problems we pooh sized people have over here in the UK and Europe is that skiing is not designed for us - or so the clothing manufacturers think!

I have skiied many times before, but since I had an accident 9 years ago when I mangled my ankle, the weight has piled on, tried all the diets, etc. Always feel very comfortable whenever we've visited Florida, but just a tad nervous about the skiing side. Skied perfectly well in Italy last Xmas, but with my short fat legs  ;) had trouble with ski boots and was made to feel very uncomfortable with some of the looks.

Are there are other Pooh sized skiiers over there in the States? Do you have any problems getting clothing and ski boots to fit? How are you treated, because on some slopes in Europe "we're" a bit of a rarety!

Thanks for any advice/encouragement you can offer :wave2:

Well, seeing as there's no replies, I guess that's given me the answer :sad2:

I am not exactly pooh sized but have skied a good deal of my life (not as much since I live in FL) but do manage 1 or 2 trips out west a year. I have always had problems with boots, finally tried men's and they work like a charm for me, my problem is I have large calfs, I am now longer miserable in my boots!

My son works at a ski resort in New Hampshire and is doing a San Francisco/Lake Tahoe ski trip right now. (He is on spring break from school) We have never really talked about this but when he calls today I could ask him if he has noticed anything at his ski resort. :)

My dh is a pooh sized skier and he wears jeans when he ski's. He has never complained about his ski boots not fitting. I know that I can't buy ski clothes for him because they don't make them in his size.

Seriously, what is it about ski clothes that make them so hard to find in the larger sizes?! I'm a size 16 and had the toughest time finding a pair of ski pants that fit. I finally found a pair by Marmot that are comfortable, so you might want to check that manufacturer out. As for how Pooh-sized people are treated, I haven't really noticed. I've seen skiers of all sizes on the slopes and never saw any looks or overheard any comments.

That's very kind of you to offer :)

And thanks everyone else of the comments, don't feel quite to daunted now
:thumbsup2

Friday can't come quick enough :cool1:
