Hi, I am planning a trip to DL and have been to Disneyworld MANY times and was wondering if the ride size is similar... IN particular the turnstyles...Are any the old turnstyles?
Thanks!

First welcome to DL, you will have a great time. DL is the original Magic Kingdom. About the turnstyles, yes, some of them are a tight fit for a pooh sized rider. We are DL regulars and I've never not been able to get through one, and can ride everything I want to (which is just about everything). In particular, the turnstyles in Fantasyland can be problamatic but nothing that can't be overcome, or diverted around if need be.

As far as the rides themselves go, for the most part they are the same (size wise). Space Mountain is actually easier to get in and out of as it is not so low to the ground. Splash Mountain is single row seating, with the exception of the back row, so that is better as well.

This is me coming off Splash Mountain last year, I'm 5'11"/180cm (so you can compare to yourself..) I'm wearing 2X shirts :rolleyes1

My thoughts - No probs with most of the turnstyles, I don't even think they bothered me. A couple I may of went through on an angle but they may be out of habit rather than actual width of the gate.

On the rides, Space Mountain I had some trouble with but I think that was more my height. I was worried that I may need to get out but I squeezed in, eventually. Mullholland Madness was really uncomfortable too, the lap bar only went back one click. Everything else was easy. I didn't try though Astro Orbitors as they looked tiny. Even Jumping Jellyfish was fine!

On Splash Mountain we rode with a gent who made me look small!

If you're shorter, the problematic turnstiles will be more problematic. Just off the top of my head, the absolute worst turnstiles are the one for Peter Pan (well into the ride, the second to last switchback) and Jungle Cruise. Ugh at those.

as for rides...
There are only things hubby (built like a sumo, with a very broad, heavy back along with a belly, along with serious musculature...5'10" around 285) hasn't been able to ride at all.

One is Maliboomer. It involves a shoulder "harness" like Screamin', but it also has a tether that goes from the bottom of the U of the harness to the seat. He can't get the tether to clip.

The other we discovered only last May b/c we never tried it before, and it's Mulholland Madness. The seats are VERY small, and the legroom is horrible. If he had spindly legs, he could cross his ankles to bring his thighs "down", and then the lap bar could come down. But he's got the tree trunk thighs, so his legs can't come down, and he couldn't ride.

I will tell you....the Cast Members have been *wonderful*.

The fellow guests, on the other hand, at Mulholland, should be put in front of a firing squad, IMO. They were very very mean when he had to leave the ride. :sad1: Shortly after we got back from the trip we got news that he had an official diagnosis of a pituitary tumor, causing his hormones to go out of whack entirely, and we're quite sure that the hormonal imbalances have been a big reason for his weight (and very slow loss), so it was even worse, to know that this was the likely reason, but to have people saying such horrible things out loud to a fellow human being, who was embarrassed enough already.

I don't say that to scare you...and maybe I shouldn't say it at all...it's just that it happened, recently...

The Cast Members, however, are wonderful and nonjudgmental about it.

I think that was some of my problem on the Mulholland Madness. I needed to cross at my ankles, wasn't comfortable at all.

I am only 5' 1" and I hate Mulholland Madness. That ride just kills me. Too much whipping back and forth and even with my shorty legs there just never seems to be enough leg room.

Although I have to ride it at least once a trip with my little kids. DS 7 just discovered single rider for MM on our trip in May. I walked him up the stairs, the CM's asked him every time he went up how old he was, I waited with him until he boarded, turned around and went down the stairs and watched him from the exit gate, waited for him to come out and walked him up again. I didn't like standing and waiting at the exit at the top of the ride, since I couldn't see him and he is soooo fun to watch on that ride.

I forgot about those two, maybe because we rarely ride them. At 5'6", 250lbs I can fit in both, but it is not comfortable. Not a big loss though, IMHO, I HATE Mulholland Madness, too jerky, and Maliboomer is just ok.

Sorry about the rude guests you encountered. Behaivoir like that is simply inexcusable.

Hi everyone..! :3dglasses

I've been a long time lurker, and this question finally brought me out of hiding. I absolutely LOVE Disneyland. My Husband and I just bought our AP's and have gone three times since May, and we just love it.

Anyways, I'm 5'9'' and a size 26/28 and haven't had a problem with anything that I've wanted to ride. I think one of the smallest turnstiles is from the Jungle Cruise. It must be an original. It's so small. The last time I rode this ride I knew I wouldn't fit through it. So, I just told the CM the problem and they let me wait at the exit/wheelchair entrance for my family who were waiting in the line, and all was well.

There are several rides that I haven't ridden yet. Mostly Fantasyland rides. I'm not sure about the turnstiles and I just rather not wait in the lines and be embarrassed if I can't fit through them.

But I do have a couple of questions of my own...

Does the Nemo Subs have a turnstile? If so, how big would you say it is or what other turnstile would you compare it to.

And how about Roger Rabbit Spin.. Does it have a turnstile?

Those are about the only two ride that I'm looking forward to riding this time around (in less than a week). But other than that everything has been fine for me. Even Space Mountain and Mulholland Madness. Neither are exactly comfy, but they are do-able.

Anyways, thanks in advance for answers, and I hope I helped ease some minds.

((Hugs))

I have trouble with the turnstiles as I am bottom heavy. I have had cm's give me a hard time when I try to use the wheel chair entrance explaining my problem so I just go to City Hall and get a GAC card where I tell them my exact problem and I only go through the wheel chair entrances on the rides where I know I have a turnstile issue such as Jungle Cruise and the rides in Fantasy Land. It makes such a difference in my visit.

Nemo has wide paths, I rode a scooter thru there. Also there is a Handicapped room for viewing the thing without going in the subs.
Just ask a CM and they will direct you there and let you in as the New movie starts again.

It was all fine going in. The bad turn stil was at the exit, I saw it coming and went out a wheel chair gate but Dh didn't see it and had to turn back to get to the gate the CM wasn't pleased but it was what had to happen.

My sister is almost 6' tall and about a size 24/26 she has ridden on everything with very few problems. She did find that on Space Mountain there are certain seats with less leg room that gave her issues. She could not latch the bar, so they switched us to a front row on another car and she had no issues. It only happened once though.

Oh.. Was the turnstile that small?

it.

Are you SERIOUS?!??!? Why...WHY would people do this. Seriously. UGH.

Ok so I'm sorta like..mini pooh sized. (size 18) I didn't have problems on anything. I'm short, so my major 'width' is turnstile height too. My really heavy inlaws were able to get through on the rides they wanted to go on (bad knees and such so the lift up and out rides are a no go). But no really huge issues.

Don't be scared! I'm very pooh sized (5'2" and size 22/24) and the only turnstiles I really have trouble with are Jungle Cruise and Peter Pan - I am short which is part of the problem. I do go thru all the turnstiles sideways and those two are very snug but I fit thru them.

The rides themselves have always been just fine, although I have never ridden Maliboomer, Muholland Madness or Ca Screamin (just not my thing!).
