Ponytails or pigtails?

We say if it is one (whether braided or not) it is a pony tail. Two or more are pig tails.

1 = ponytail

2 = pigtail (some reason I keep getting visual image of Cindy Brady!!)

Might be a bit old-fashioned, but still hear braids referred to as plaits.

When did a pig get 2 tails??????? :teeth:

I have always said that a pony tail looks like a pony's tail.... straight

and a pig tail (regardless of how many) is braided like a curly pig tail....

Makes the most sense ot me!!

But I think it s a matter of what you've been taught....

(but I still want to know when a pig got 2 tails!)

1 = ponytail
2 = pigtail
Braids=braids
Sorry, this is what I've always called them.

1 in back...ponytail
2 on sides....puppy ears

braid is a braid

I don't use "pigtails", but when I think of it...2 braids

I say if it is braided, whether it is one braid or more than one, it is a pigtail or pigtails. It can't be a pigtail unless it is braided. If you have hair on either side of your head in elastics and the hair is not braided, then you have ponytails.

Ditto!

The same could be said about ponytails. When did a pony get two tails? :teeth:

Puppy ears make the most sense for two "tails", but I've never heard of that one before.

I like that one, MerryPoppins! I'm going to start asking my kids if they want puppy ears!:p

I've always said non-braided tails are "pony tails," and braided tails are "pigtails." If the hair isn't braided, and it's in rubberbands (one or two) it looks like a pony's tail or tails. If it's braided, it looks all curly, like a pig's tail or tails. That's what's most logical to me. So, I say you are right, Disney Ella! :teeth:

1 = Ponytail
2 = Pigtails
1 braided = Braided Pony
2 braided = Braided Piggy tails

i agree.

We seem really divided on this one. I wonder if it's a regional thing? Interesting.

I thought that if there is one, then it is a ponytail and if there is two-one of each side it is a pig tail.

1 unbraided = ponytail
2 unbraided = puptails
1 braided = braid
2 braided = pigtails

I guess I have the whole zoo...

1 unbraided = ponytail

2 unbraided = dogears (don't know why- that's what my mom called them... Maybe because mine were long and floppy?)

1 braided = braid

2 braided = pigtails

My thoughts exactly! Pigs only have ONE tail - at least around here ::yes::::yes::

And if ther is more than one ponytail, they are ponytails; more than one pigtail, they are pigtails.

I side with the OP on this one!:D

Braided hair = pigtails
Hair in an elastic holder = ponytails

It's a Pony Tail or Pony Tails when it is held at the head by a rubber band or something similar.

If it is braided it is called a Plait.

That's what we call them here anyway.

1= pony tail
2=pig tails
Any type of a braid = plait
