pontins in blackpool? anyone been?

having a year off florida this year,went lasy may and then to new york in november for my fortieth, so financially doing it cheaper this year, and back to florida next year, going to spain in august to try portaventura theme park, am thinking of blackpool in october half term for the lights and for the rides.
kids have never been and I haven't been since I was 12!

pontins with half board looks reasonable, it says its close to the action but how close? could we get a tram into blacpool centre to avoid cars and parking etc?

I also fancy the big blue hotel but its more expensive than pontins but obviously more central?

I was there a couple of months back on a DWP presentation day, whilst they looked after you on a corperate level i could only describe the rest of the place soul destroying and it would be on a list of places to avoid if i had one, but then again so would Blackpool for any holiday. Before i get slated would anyone like to come to Coppull for their holidays? There is just too much emphasis on boozing for my liking but if you like Blackpool then you like it.

If you are still interested i would say that the start of the Golden Mile is about 1km away on a busy road but with nothing on it past Pontins, to specifically get a tram the walk would be necessary although i would expect buses to go past Pontins itself.

Might be better paying the extra tbh?

I used to work for Pontins, I wouldn't stay there if you paid me to.

sil stayed at pontins blackpool and hated it,never stayed a t big blue hotel,we have stayed a the Hot air ballon premier travel inn,this was quite nice. we have had some fun times in blackpool but you have to take it for what it is there can be lots of rowdy stag hen parties.its also incredibly expensive.
