Forget about the looks - I just don't buy GM cars anymore after being bit so bad with lemons. And this is from someone who spent time growing up in Detroit, worked for a subsidiary of GM and swore I would only buy American cars.
I switched to Honda's and it's been a joy to own a car for 10 years and NOT have to do any major repairs. I really thought it was normal to have to be towed (sometimes as much as 150 miles) when the car breaks down at least once or twice a year.
I used to own two GM cars and one was usually in being repaired. I had to have a backup car. Isn't that ridiculous. I really hope they have gotten better in the past 15 years, but they got a second chance from me once but do NOT get a third EVER.
I had an Accord (10 years) and an Odyssey (7 years) and have never spend any money on repairs except for maintenance things like regular oil changes, battery, tires, brakes, etc.
The resale value holds up very well too. I sold my 10 year old Honda for the same thing that I sold my 3 1/2 year old GM luxury car for and the GM car cost twice as much new.
