Not sure about the adult atm but I'd guess no more than $10-$11 at most. So sure after tax you paid more than $20 for TWO.
You definitely exaggerated in your PP making it sound like one costs more than $20.
And prices on ponchos don't vary.

I'm so sorry I forgot the price of the very expensive ponchos that I bought at MK. I'm sorry that every time I had to exchange one because it ripped, I was asked for a receipt. I'm sorry it rained that day. I'm sorry I had to wear a poncho and I'm very very sorry I didn't buy one from CVS before I left.

Seems like you were rough with them then.
I've had my current one for 6 years and has gone on 10 trips some of those having multiple days with several rounds of downpours.
Sorry that you have become so sour and upset over it.

For several years I carried the dollar ponchos with me in the parks (because they are more compact and cheaper), planning to buy the Disney ponchos only if needed. On my most recent trip, I finally purchased the Disney poncho because of persistent and heavy rains. So, it might be worthwhile to just wait and see if you need to take the plunge on the Disney ponchos!

When my Disney poncho ripped at the snaps a few weeks after purchasing from the online store a few years ago, I didn't know Disney would replace it, and simply tossed it. Before our next trip, I bought a Frogg's Toggs poncho from one of the local sporting goods stores, and it has lasted me years. It was $20, for those interested in an alternative. Made of stronger stuff and also more breathable because of its Gore-Tex material.

When are you going?
If you're going in the next month then bring or a good rain jacket or buy a Disney poncho.
If you're going in say November/December then you could probably get away with cheap ponchos.
Although personally I would only ever go with Disney ponchos. Rain jackets don't cover nearly as much and to me a cheap poncho is more for if its an emergency situation.
Disney ponchos hold up and cover most of my body and allow me to keep my bag dry too.

Be prepared to potentially buy Disney ponchos.

FWIW ... Anyone remember the old WDW ponchos that were bright yellow with an adorable Mickey on the back? We bought them on several occasions back in the old days when our only trips to WDW were in August. I accumulated about five or six and used them for several years. When we started being able to visit the parks at other (not so rainy) times of the year I "retired" the big yellow ponchos to the preschool I worked at. We used them on rainy days when we had to unload the busses in the rain. They worked beautifully and the kids loved them! They might have been a bit pricey (I think about $5 back then) but they owed me nothing when they finally bit the dust!

I still see people in yellow ponchos. That's how good of quality they are. When I was growing up we always went over Thanksgiving and it didn't usually rain so we never bought them. Went in August/September in 2006 and that is when i learned how great the Disney ponchos are.

Yes, I've seen Yellow ones out and about recently in areas nowhere near Disney World.

The quality is really much different than a dollar store poncho. I'd prefer a Lawn N' Leaf bag to a dollar store poncho, but that's me, I guess.

I'd rather buy one Disney poncho every decade or so (I'm on Year 8 of mine, at least) than buy a disposable dollar store poncho for each trip. (If that were the case, I'd have already exceeded the cost of my Disney poncho.)

Thanks everyone. I feel better about paying the little extra for it. We get there Saturday and leave next Saturday. So pretty sure we will need one!
