Ai christmas Target has portable umbrellas that fold up small and fit in a zippered case for 5.00. We took them last year and they were light and handy.
I just came back from my trip and we had taken poncho's and winded up buying an umbrella in Universal Studios. Poncho's are great because they will cover the most part of you. Your feet will always get wet unfortunatly... So the umbrella was because I got tired of taking the poncho off, having it be all sticky and hot. Then folding it up, then taking it out. It was just a pain. The umbrella is allot easier, but it depends if there is allot of people around, just be careful. It's just up to you. I don't go poking people and am very careful when using it, so it's really up to you. But take something!!! Your gonna need it no matter what date you go... Have a great trip...
Back recently from a wet week at WDW. Here are my thoughts on rain gear.
Brought with me .99 WalMart ponchos using them for the first few days and drying them out at night. They're flimsy & ok for an emergency but after a few wearings it was time an upgrade. We bought WDW ponchos and used them for the rest of the trip. WDW ponchos are sturdier and the coverage is better. Both are like being in a personal sauna. My glasses would fog up and the plastic would stick. Ick!! DS's clever He put his hat over the hood to keep the hood from blowing off. Cocs are best for your feet. Water just runs right threw them.
Since the whole putting on and taking off of the poncho is such an ordeal I saved them for the daily biblical rain showers. I bought a WDW umbrella for light rain. They come in 2 sizes and are kept behind the counters. I chose the smaller model which is meant for 1 person. I thought it would be less likely to poke people also. We were able to squeeze the 2 of us under it.
The umbrella is one of my fave souvenirs from this trip
