We were super lucky last year and had a rain free, first trip to DW. We are leaving in a few days and rain has been in the forecast. I have been thinking...If you are in a situation where its is in fact raining in DW do you keep your ponchos on when riding on the buses etc..or take them off? :confused3 Probably a silly question but I'm interested in hearing what your opinions are.

If it is, in fact, raining when we get on the bus, we are leaving ours on.

I leave mine on if it's already on, because there's just not room to remove one without soaking everyone else. I usually choose to stand on the bus also, so I don't sit in any puddles that have collected in the seats.

It's the same with gift shops. Most of them don't have room for you to remove the poncho without splashing others or merchandise, so I leave mine on. I would take it off to dine indoors though.

Keep in mind that the showers don't usually last all day this time of year, so most of the time you can work around them. Even though they have been forecasting rain since Monday, today is the first day I saw a shower, and it started when I went in a restaurant to eat lunch, and by the time I finished, it was done too. Just because it says 50% chance of rain doesn't mean it will rain where you are, or that it will rain during the day - sometimes it rains overnight and the days are fine.

Ditto. And if it is raining when I get off, I've already got it on. It if stops raining, fold it into itself (so the wet side is against the wet side) and drape it over your belt or put it in a bag. Then if you need to put it on again, you still have a dry side.

If it is still raining we leave them on as others have them and water is every where on the bus as well :confused3

That does present a dilemma (not sure I spelled that right!) ... anyway ... just have to think of me since DH would rather die than wear a poncho. I think I would get on the bus and then take it off ... not just because it would get everything wet for the person after me ... but I just don't think I would like to leave it on.

Maybe it depends on how wet it is. Now I hope it doesn't rain cause I don't want to think about this! :worried:

I don't like when people wear ponchos in shops because it gets everybody who isn't wearing a poncho all wet when the poncho-wearers' ponchos brush up against the non-poncho-wearers.

(Did that make sense?)

Made sense to me and I agree it's very annoying when they brush against you.

My other peeve is when people take off their ponchos in crowded areas and proceed to shake them.

I know on two occasions, cast members asked that we remove our ponchos. . .when entering an attraction. We were planning on it anyway. . .but they got to us just as we entered the inside portion of the queue.

We think it is rude to wear a wet, clingy poncho on the bus. They stick to other people and make that person uncomfortable. We take it off when we get in the covered bus area and shove them in a baggie so that the water is contained. If we get a little wet from the covered area of the bus stop to the entrance of the bus....no biggie.

My other problem is when the little kid walking the other way in AK during a heavy rain who was kicking the puddles so all the water went up under everyone's poncho's.

I would probably take the poncho off before getting on the bus, especially if it is warm. Those ponchos can make you hot. We now just carry two small umbrellas to the parks in our bag because we find them much easier IMO. Plus we only carry them if there is rain in the forecast.

Even when it does rain, it often only rains for a few minutes at a time, so before you throw on the poncho and tromp along through the rain, whip out your phone and check the radar -- could be that you can eliminate the whole problem (and not have to deal with a wet poncho, or you holding it) by just hitting another attraction or looking around a gift shop for 10-15 minutes.

Also, in Florida, you'll often see that there's a significant chance of rain because at certain times of year, there's always a significant chance that it's going to rain somewhere in the region at some point over the course of the day. Put another way, a 70% chance of rain doesn't mean that there's a 70% chance that your day is going to be completely rained out, it just means that there's a 70% chance that somewhere near WDW is going to get some rain that day. This is not to say that you should ignore the forecast, just don't get worked up if you see rain forecast every day -- it's only occasionally that it rains enough to have a significant impact upon what you're doing during the day.

I take mine off as I enter. ( bus or shop) I always carry a zip lock baggie large enough to place the wet poncho inside.

There are some rides like Space Mountain where they won`t let you ride with a poncho on.

Oh, definitely take them off for me. It's just water! You can safely take the poncho off before you board and put them into whatever you are carrying for the day (because you had to be carrying something since you have a poncho). Do you really get that wet before boarding if you take the poncho off when you see the bus approaching? Really? And you are going back to your resort. What is the big deal with some water? It dries!

Never had rain on my 2 previous visits, but Where I live we get a lot of rain. It would be considered bad manners to sit with your poncho on a seat. It leaves it all wet for the next person.

You either stand or take it off. Or at least make sure the seat doesnt get wet.

It's poring down right now :( if you have some sun, could we have some too please :) ?

I say don't worry about it...do what you need to do.

for the most part...wearing the ponchos is hot and humid and you can't wait to get them off:lmao:

sometimes there are wet seats on the busses after it rains..not much you can do....

sometimes you are in a downpour at a bus stop and have no choice but to wear your poncho on the bus.

I think I have had them all happen:goodvibes

Thanks for all your replies..lol. I guess we'll just be prepared and take it day by day. I'm trying to relax about it, we're just all so excited:thumbsup2
