I want you to know I don't believe I'm paying for an exclusive gated community, for heavens sake I live on a quiet street, in an average house, in a small town and my dh and I manage a grocery store. We are VERY middle class. I have no problem at all with people visiting other resorts to look around, but this is very different than the question that was posed. You can bet though that I am paying the use of that beach. I know there is signage on this beach that is ignored on a regular basis, and for that matter probably not inforced like it should be. I teach my children to follow rules and policies, and to me a sign that reads for" Polynesian guests only" means to me just that. That sign removes the right for non-paying visitors to "use" this beach for anything more than a look see.

Another very lively and informative debate on the DIS boards - Sherrie, I believe you will be able to watch the FW from the GF near the Boat Launch near Narcoosee's - this I think will give a good view as well - Poly to the South, CR to the West and MK to the North/North-West

Wisconsin, I did not realize there were so many people taking up so much beach at the Poly. It sounds like you have a legitmate beef that you should take up with WDW/Poly directly regarding beach access for the Fireworks.

I did not intend to offend with the gated community comment and it appears I have touched a raw nerve personally with a generic comment. In that respect, I apologise for the comment and how it was misinterpreted.

I by no means meant to insult you. I've tried to to keep my responses very business like and non attacking. It upset me greatly when Jason responded to my post as I thought I had more right than others did a WDW resorts. I directed my last response to Jason and not to you or any of the other posters on this thread. I believe there is a policy and I feel it should be followed, if we all did whatever we wanted in this world we would have quite a mess. I'm in no way trying to monopolize the Polynesian or anything else in WDW. I am one small person with a family who has saved many, many years to take a trip of a life time. Just like many others on this board and all over the world. I have in the past been very upset on this board by the rude and attacking comments that can fly to a simple question. I am sorry if you felt I was attacking you personally. I never meant to do that. I was sharing my personal opinion on this situation. I want eveyone, including yourself and your family to experience all the magic that is to be had at WDW including the fireworks. I do hope you have a wonderful vacation and it's as special as it can be. Again I am sorry if I presented my opinions in an attacking way. Most people who know me would say that I'm a kind, helpful, by the book type person. I'm sorry if another type of person came through in this thread.

Wisconsin, I didn't find your post anything but informative. There is indeed a sign that states that the beaches are for guests of the Polynesian only. I can see that eventually they may have to enforce the policy (although I don't think it's a problem now except for July 4th and around the holidays).

Every unofficial board and a lot of the guidebooks now recommend that people watch the fireworks from the beach at Polynesian to avoid the MK crowds. I think that as word continues to get around and the crowds grow, the beaches will be restricted to guests and people dining at the Luau and Ohana (on fireworks nights).

I'm with Gepetto on this one!

During off season, it's not a problem. But on peak holidays, the number of non-Polynesian guests on the beach is out of control and dterimental to the experience of the paying Polynesian guests, and that's when the Polynesian needs to take steps to keep non-guests off the beach.

There were reports after last years July 4th fireworks of people actually walking over and sitting on the patio furniture at the Hawaii building--tha'ts ridiculously crude IMHO--even if the room occupants weren't there, it's very out of line to infringe on their space. There were also reports of people dragging just about every pool chair and chaise lounge from the pool area down onto the beach...Stuff like that just isn't right...

Why not have dinner at Chef Mickey's and watch the fireworks from the observation deck at the Contemporary afterwords??? Or the beach at FW after an inexpensive dinner at the buffeteria.(never a crowd). There was not a crowd when I was there the first week of July last year, no one checking ID's, etc. It was nice, and I think they pipe in the music at the CR!!! I would not miss the fireworks. Ren

(Please don't kill me if you are staying at the CR or FW)

Tammy this is OT to Sherrie's original question but I wanted to assure you that the fireworks won't awaken you at the Polynesian. The doors are very well insulated. As Erika mentionned we could hear them at the GF with our doors closed too but partly I believe that is because some of the buildings almost form a canyon and the sound is really amplified.

Oh no BCV I hope they do! We are so disappointed that as of yet there are none scheduled during our stay, so if I have to watch them at midnight I will tough it out!

I have heard that about the Poly, being much more sound proof than many of the resorts. We are so use to the Wisconsin Dells hotels where you can here the guy next door snoring...not to mention other wonderful noises!

First of all this is my opinion of a situation not my opinion of any individual person or persons asking or commenting on a question. In order to participate in Internet forums it would be best if everyone would remember that. People are way to sensitive about this.

I have to agree with Gepetto and the others and disagree that visitors from other resorts using the "amenties you pay for" does not at times enfringe on the rights of the paying guests.

I am sure before Internet forums and guidebooks starting sharing the the Polynesian beach was a great place to watch fireworks it was never a problem. And I am sure that at certain times of the year it's not a problem and only a few people do it. But when the Polynesian is at capacity a few more people does begin to enfringe.

Especially if these people are using the parking lot to park their cars to then go view the fireworks or take the few hammocks that are there.

I am sure if you are dining there you are considered a guest during that time period and can enjoy the amenities.

I think part of the problem is that visiting other resorts has become cheap entertainment. I know I don't want to pay very high prices for a deluxe resort and feel like I am staying in the middle of an amusement area.

I am sure if CBR was reported in guide books and on Internet Forums as having the very best transportation at Disney and suddenly nonCBR guests starting driving other there, taking up parking spaces meant for CBR guests and taking up seats on the buses and making them more crowded, guests there would not be happy with that either. It would be a legitimate complaint too.

It is all a matter of prespective and I think Wisconsin has a valid point and if she is a paying guest at the Polynesian then Yes she does have more right to those amenities and the beach than someone not staying there. After all she did pay for it and paid dearly.

Renessa, thanks for your tips. By the time we check in and get the rental car, it will be approaching 7:30-8:00. We have decided to just take it easy rather than rush off somewhere. I considered ohanas or the rest. at the top of the Contemp. Thanks for the ideas. We will have a 4 yr. old with us.

Grad nights are all night parties that are arranged for the graduating seniors of high schools all around Florida. I went to mine when I graduated and several since then as a chaperone. The seniors all have to be dressed nicely (no cut-offs, or flip-flops). It usually starts around 11 PM and ends at 5 AM. They have dance bands etc.. (it was KC and the Sunshine Band in 1976!) All around the park the teens get to ride the rides, dance, and be with their friends for one last hoopla before graduation!
