I love the cookies, Adelia. I wish I could have some at my VR. They are simply adorable.

I can get you the recipe if you want! I just love them... but don't think I'd have the patience to make them all Good thing for FMIL!

I am planning to do cookies for my welcome bags too...but I decided to use my mickey cookie cutter and haven't thought much about a design yet for them. Those are adorable, I will have to see what I can do with the mickey head shape. Oh and just a hint on the frosting, I decorate cakes on the side and when I need black I use regular icing for texture, I just add cocoa powder to it and use super black gel color as well as some black powdered color to balance out the texture and get the dark black look. Ooooohhhhhhhh thank you so much for the frosting hint! I think I'm going to have her help me make them when I throw a shower for my brother's fiance- so we can trial it then!

First, LOVE THE COOKIES and the cake idea.

Second, welcome to my boat I'm in a similar situation as far as the guest list. When we first got engaged, I made it CLEAR that the wedding was going to be small and that the guest list was immediate family only. Period. FMIL has not said a word as to "oh but it would be nice to have..." She has accepted that from day one...and even if she hasn't neither myself of DF has heard anything about it. FMIL is good like that...She's a go with the flow kind of person.
Now, MY mother on the other hand...Not so much. The guilt is just a PITA to say the least...For example, "It would be so nice to have everyone there. Your father would put more money toward the wedding if his family was there." When I got my dress it was "I wish everyone could see you in this dress." "This person is hurt that they aren't going to be there." I could go on and on...but I'll stop there.
Here is how I fixed it...at least for now as she hasn't said anything since this conversation-which I think is in my PJ...
It went something like this...
DF and I looked into a Wishes wedding to accommodate everyone and the cost is just too much. Then, I broke down the cost and the minimum that we HAD to spend at WDW and travel AND dress, shoes, etc. The bottom line $$$ is what ended that dispute. (So far). I also pointed out what she was doing with the guest list. She was making it top heavy with dad's family and cutting out DF's side of the family. Df's family considers "family" to be all of it..Not just adults, but adults and kids. I had to make my mother understand that there was a different definition of family there and she was not respecting it just because she wanted to have everyone there.
Even though they are offering to pay for an extra guest-Sunset Point only allows so many people. Grand 1 only allows so many people-and to upgrade to a dessert party would cost you how much more??? I'd explain that and that you don't think it's fair to try to balance out the guest list for one side when you can't do it for the other.

I think you're definately right, I think breaking down the numbers is going to be the best bet. I'm going home at the end of July so I think I'll save the whole ordeal for then... maybe I should make a powerpoint presentation with the break down of all the cost

So I don't have many updates so I haven't posted in awhile. I think I go through phases where I'm totally wedding obsessed and then realize everything is still so far away and then I just don't do anything for awhile I have been working on a newletter to send out but am unsure of what timeline I want to use for these- I had originally planned to send the first one 18 months before and then to send a save the date when we go our date 12 months out... except now it's 8 months, then I plan to do a formal invite and then another newsletter with more specifics about the wedding schedule, park hours, and dining reservations. The first newsletter is basically done just need to put a few finishing touches on it and decide when to send it.

I hate that we can't book until 8 months out... it really bugs me.

Hey Adelia! I totally read your entire PJ while DH was out golfing all afternoon. There is SO much to comment on that it's nuts! As a fellow Romona Keveza bride (you went to Tie the Knot bridal couture in Naples the first, second, and third time didn't you? that's where I got mine), 12/6 bride, and toppers with glitz bride-- I must say you have wonderful taste!
