PolynesianBride'sPJ 12/6/10 Sunset Pointe- TEASER PICS UP!

I'm going through the same "to upgrade or not to upgrade" battle in my head too! Its funny because i'd want to upgrade to either the mad hatter, or the under the sea cake too! :cutie:

I really like the one Mandy Likes but i Also like the First mad hatter cake you posted too.... But then again... I know my DF said that he'd rather upgrade other things than the cake thats just going to get eaten anyway. (buzz kill!) So if you didn't upgrade i think the modern Deco would look really nice with a color change! :goodvibes

So really I am no help :lmao: But maybe upgrading to the cake with the orchids wouldnt be that expensive to re-create. I'd wait and talk to your WC about how much an upgrade like that would be before you make any decisions!

I'm doing the modern deco so i'm biased. Everyone has different things that are important to them, the cake wasn't important to me so it never crossed my mind to upgrade.

So i finally read through your PJ. I love everything. The dress is amazing!!! Also I do not know if you are still thinking about it but I love the idea of having the entertainment at the beach while you wait for the boat to watch the fire works. I have Diane as well and she never gets back to me half the time either. She is super nice but I think she has so much going on she forgets about a lot she even had my wedding date written down wrong. I have been waiting for over a month to know what the f&b minimums are for a tea party are. I would think that information would be easy to find but she told me she is trying to locate it.

Adelia, I love all of your cake options! I am doing fresh flowers on the top of mine so I am partial to that look! I just wanted to tell you that we are having chocolate cake with the raspberry mousse as one of our layers and the raspberry mousse is delicious! :) Definitely a good choice!

I think if you decide to stick with what your Escape cake options are, then the art deco with your colors would be very pretty. :goodvibes

All of your cake choices are lovely though!

Ok, so I've read bits and pieces of your PJ before, but I just sat down and read the whole thing!

Your plans sound great so far!
We are 99% sure that we are switching from a DCL wedding to an Escape and we want to have more people at dinner afterwords than at the ceremony so I am glad to see someone else planning the same thing. I know it's not too odd to invite someone to the 'reception' and not the wedding because I was invited and attended a friends reception last year.

As far as the cake goes I love the modern deco because it's what I want for myself as I have an art deco theme. However I don't know if it is very tropical even if you get the colors changed to your colors. I second Mandy's vote, or go with a version of the first mad hatter style cake you posted only in your colors and maybe more tropical looking flowers.

Can't wait to read more!

The modern Deco with the orange and fuscia would look awesome. None of the cakes really scream tropical to me, but then I'm not sure what pops up in my head when I think tropical and cake together. Hmmmm.... I found this when googling, not sure if it's what your after or not.

Lol you remind me of...well me!! I went through the same cake dilema.

Let me tell you, when we were planning an escape wedding I bought a birthday cake for DF at the Boardwalk...just to try the flavors before the wedding. It was $50 but TOTALLY worth it! We had vanilla with fruit mousse and whipped cream. TO DIE FOR!! Obviously for a wedding cake, you couldn't do whipped cream but still!!:lovestruc

I like the first cake on the bottom shelf. I think it would be really pretty with some tropical floral. I am not a huge fan of the modern cake, plus I don't think it fits your theme.

If you don't go with an escape cake, I pick this one :)
tropicalweddingcake.jpg
I do love that cake too. I think Heidi had that cake for her escape wedding and it was gorgeous! Plus I think that is the only Escape cake that has buttercream frosting- yummy!

Ooooh, I think modern deco with pink and orange and the extra floral would be stunning!!! Yes yes yes I love it!!!
Thanks:goodvibes

I've got to say I love all your cake ideas .... if it was me I would be really tempted to upgrade hehe! BUT I think modern cake would look fabby in those colours too! I can't decide!:goodvibes
Upgrading is so tempting- I guess we'll have to see!

Why do guys have to be such buzz kills:headache: They're always so darn logical and practical:sad2:

I'm doing the modern deco so i'm biased. Everyone has different things that are important to them, the cake wasn't important to me so it never crossed my mind to upgrade.
Are you switching the colors of it or are you going with the traditional? If so did they charge you extra to change the colors?

Thanks Ann and :welcome:! So glad to have another reader! I still like the idea of the entertainment on the beach but DF thinks it's a bit too much- he says I'm going way overboard:lmao: I figure we have plenty of time to battle it out. I agree that Dianne is super nice but it looks like I'll have to wait til I get assigned my actual planner before I get too much more info:guilty:

Oooooh I'm glad you like the rasberry mousse I think it sounds so yummy!

Thanks Anjanette! I'm hoping that changing the colors is an option!

YAY! I'm so glad you made it all the way throught my PJ! I did feel weird about inviting more to dinner than to the ceremony at first but everyone knew the guest restrictions at ceremony ahead of time and they were still insistent that they wanted to be at Disney with us so I figured hey it's a bit non-traditional but it works for us!

Oooohhhhhh I love that pic! Of course that would be an upgrade to do that style but that's what the colors would look like even if I do the art deco!!!!! THANK YOU!

I'm a big fan of the modern art deco in orange and fuschia for your wedding...I think it works with the theme. JMO
Thanks! I'm not sure if any of the cakes are really "tropical" but I think the modern art deco would be bright and fun!

Could they do the Elegant Scroll cake with orange and fuschia scroll work? Add in some of your tropical floral and voila! An Escape cake tropical-ified!:wizard:

I don't remember what the raspberry mousse tasted like, but the lemon cake with tropical mousse is amazing! It was definitely the "surprise" hit of both our cake tasting and the wedding.

I was hoping that you would chime in on cake flavors!!!! I definately took the idea for that flavor combo from your rave review- thanks! Is the lemon cake very lemony (not sure if that's a word) or does it just tastes like yellow cake with icky lemon extract? I'm hoping it's really lemony and delicious! I thought it sounded delicious and Ryan said his whole family loves lemon so I hope it's a hit!

I'm thinking real lemony. It's been a few months since I last had it! I do know lemon cake is my mom's FAVORITE and she thought it was great.

Are you going down to WDW before the wedding? Could you order a mini cake from the GF while you're down there to get a taste? So many people have done special cakes through them. It's an expensive way to have a cake tasting, but you could celebrate with them!

Thanks Heidi! If your mom is a lemon cake fan and she loved it I'm sure it'll be perfect! We are going to Disney in April and I have thought about getting a mini cake but even then I only get to try 1 flavor and I can't decide which one I want to try:rotfl:

So this am I was talking with DF about cakes and he asks "why are you thinking about having a pink and orange cake... i thought we decided our main colors were pink and GREEN":lmao: I don't know if I posted this before but the original colors I liked were pink and orange but DF insisted that he needed one "manly" color as one of the main colors so we settled on our main colors being pink and green... we also thought it was appropriate since it's near christmas too but more of a tropical take on the traditional dark red and hunter green.

Main colors:
pink_azalea_1_40p.gif
green_fairway_1_40p.gif

but we also agreed on having splashes of orange, aqua, and silver:
orange_flame_1_40p.gif
aqua_lagoon_1_40p.gif
silver_1_40p-1.gif

So I thought I was just adding in one of our accent colors but looks like it may be vetoed by DF (he also may totally forget about it til he sees the pink and orange cake at the wedding:lmao:)

However I did find this pic of a pink and orange cake with green orchids and think that maybe it is too much:confused3 I like the pink and orange cake with green that CDNTech posted earlier so I think it must just be that the shades are a little different. But who knows what shade Disney would make it if they agreed to do the Modern Deco in pink and orange:confused: Anyways what do you ladies think are the colors too obnoxious?(remember there wouldn't be the white shells)

Also I had been planning on having floral for a cake topper but recently came across this site: http://www.topperswithglitz.com/

They have tons of different options but I saw this cake serving set and I love the crystal colors
cakeservers.jpg

Does anyone know do you HAVE to provide a cake serving set or will Disney have one there that we can use?

They have alot of options when it comes to monograms too- here's just a few:

And this one I think would look awesome on a Mad Hatter:

I really like the idea posted earlier of doing the scrolls cake, but making the scrollwork coloured.

I'd make one layer pink scrolls, one layer orange scrolls, add some green cymbidium orchids and voila... tropical cake with the escape price.

When I think tropical, I think light and airy. The scrolls look delicate (light and airy) and with the background it would be kept light and airy... the solid pink/orange seems more heavy to me.

By having just the scrollwork coloured, it would be an accent colour and you would get your pink and orange since the green flowers would show more than the scrollwork. Take my idea with a grain of salt though, I'm partial to the scrolls because that is the cake we chose. ;)

I also much prefer eating buttercream to fondant... we had a fondant cake when we got married 10 years ago and while I love the look of it, the buttercream cakes taste so much better and Disney does an awesome job of making them look spectacular. :)

Disney does provide a cake cutting set... don't know what it looks like though.

I don't know if they'll do the buttercream in any other colors:confused3 but it would definately be worth asking! Great idea- thanks:goodvibes
Did you see their cake topper with a palm tree! Very tropical!
I know I love that one- it's so cute but it's one of the "custom" ones = $$$$$. If we were to do one we'd probably have to stick to a single letter:sad2:

I'm definately starting to lean towards the scroll cake now... the only thing is I wish that there were some hidden Mickey's in the scrolls so that it was a little more Disney. I do love buttercream frosting... YUM! Before I was thinking I about asking for a bowl of buttercream frosting so I could add some to my cake:lmao:

I'm not sure of this whole buttercream thing you are talking about...is it the scrolls that are buttercream or are you looking for the whole cake to be frosted in buttercream??? I missed that converstaion

AUGH! Yeah. I saw those prices...We're sticking with the Mickey and Minnie topper.

:wizard:

i like that cake even if it doesn't have the white shells i think it is sooooo pretty!

I saw that website too and i'm kind of leaning towards getting a monogram cake topper too. DF really likes them. And i LOVE that cake cutting set you posted... very cute with your colors!
