Polynesian, which rooms to request

My family and I will be going in a couple of weeks; two rooms (GV), one for parents with two pre-teens in the second. We will be using the monorail when possible, but will valet park a car for the freedom it brings, and the ability to valet park at any other hotel.

We need (in order of importance):connecting rooms (or at least adjoining), non-smoking, balcony, and fairly convenient to GCH and TTC.

AKL was great but we wanted to try something new. I have been reading many of the posts in this forum, and have become a little concerned about service and cleanliness.

I would appreciate some quick advice on (a) which rooms to request and (b) which are more likely to be well taken care of.

Thank you very much.

there isn't one.

Tahiti is my favorite and is great for TTC - but it is about as far from CH as you can get. It does have bigger rooms.

Tokelau is a good request for your purposes I think.

It is pretty much halfway between the TTC and GCH. All rooms have either a balcony or lanai. The rooms are even larger than those in the orignal buildings. It is nonsmoking.

We've had lots of rooms at the Polynesian with connecting doors. My guess is you won't have problems with that.

We've been staying at the Polynesian since 1983 and have always had very clean rooms. You may not get a towel animal ;) but I think you will find a very clean room which is what I expect.

So I'd request connecting rooms in Tokelau with a balcony. It is also a large longhouse so you have a good chancec of having your requests met. Have fun!

Thanks for the input so far.

What about Samoa and Rarotonga?

Is the property really so large that distance from GCH or the pool is important?

Another vote for Tokelau. We just stayed there a couple of weeks ago. It was in between GCH and TTC.

Also, as Tikiman mentions on his website, this is also the only longhouse where you can get a water view in some garden view rooms. In our GV room, we had a partial lagoon view, we could see most of wishes from our balcony.

I must be the odd one out. We had a room in Tahiti and it didn't seem that far away from the GCH. I loved the walk, especially in the am. It was beautiful and relaxing. Anyway, we really liked Tahiti.

No, the property isn't that large at all especially compared to the moderates and value resorts. I was just trying to meet what you listed as important.

Raratonga is very close to the GCH, parking and the bus stop. Samoa is between the two pools and has a great location.

Tahiti has beautiful garden views and as others have said is very close to the TTC.

Really I don't think you can go wrong at the Polynesian.

I would also say Tokelau. Rarotonga, for me, would be riskier because one side of the building faces the parking lot and monorail. They have a lot of foliage, but I like not being able to see any signs of the outside world :D Samoa is nice. One side faces the Volcano pool and the other the quiet pool, so you'll get a little more "foot traffic" noise there. And the second floor of Samoa doesn't have balconies. Tokelau has balconies on both the third and second floors. It also has the larger floor plan (Samoa and Rarotong's are two feet shorter). Honestly, for me Tahiti did seem like a hike to the GCH some days, but keep in mind that we were in the far end of it (very close to TTC) and I was 5 mos pg and carrying a preschooler around half the time!!!
