I am planning my wedding at the Polynesian this July. We are still trying to decide for sure whether to actually stay at the Polynesian or to stay at the Beach Club. My fiance's daughter is 7 so the pool is a big issue for us. Also, my fiance recently injured his back and we're not sure how much time he will have in the park. He is going to need shade and a place to relax and hang out if our daughter and I have to tour the parks alone. Can anyone make a reccommendation about these two resorts or even suggest something that will work even better? We are planning on spending most of our time at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Thanks
Selena

First off, CONGRATS!!

Maybe split between the two. That is what we are doing, because we love both Pools and both Parks. WE couldn't decide so we are now staying from July 8-11 at the Polynesian and July 11-15 at The Beach Club. My daughter is 8 and loves both pools for different reasons.

When is your wedding?

The wedding is July 26 and we're staying the entire week. I really don't want to split our stay because of the possibility of his back still being "tender." I really think that we'll be happy at either resort, I just want this trip to be as special as possible

the Polyn (although I love the BC) - the entire Polyn pool can be seem without help.

the polyn is older but still beautiful.

I would get a wheelchair for him when you check in - they are free. Now if you want a better one - then go rent one. Check on Disabilties board for information on wheelchair rentals in Fl.

My dd 8 loves the Poly, the pool is smaller than BC, so maybe lesser crowds? I would also think being on the monorail is a huge plus, as well as seeing the castle, and wishes not only from the beach of the Poly, but from the pool!! As stated above the Poly pool has a zero entry, and they have a pool wheelchair too ! Many times dd was content to stay at the polynesian pool, and its such a relaxing area, we were very content there!

One of my fav memories is getting something from Kona to go, taking it back to our room, much more relaxing for us than in the restraunt! We loved eating at Ohana's - dd had fun joining in the hula hoop contest, and the broom races, we enjoyed sitting at our table watching her have fun 15 -20 min while we had some 'adult' time!!

I cant compare the 2, just give you my impressions from our experience. Also, you can rent an ECV (motor scooter) info on the Disabilities, that way he can get around without exhausting and causing more pain to his back!! Read Ray's post!! Also, with the Polynesian, its within walking distance of the Epcot monorail, and on the MK monorail - a definate plus -- consider renting the skooter for a day or two!

PS CONGRATULATIONS!!
:cheer2:

I would go with the Poly. That way your new husband  will be able to watch fireworks from the beach, there are great of resturants avaiable at the resort that will be within close distance. You can choose to do the luau one night as a family.

If a hot tub is important to anyone in your family, be aware that the Poly does *not* have one. (I was thinking that your fiance might be interested because of his back problems...)
But I don't think you can really go wrong with either the Beach Club *or* the Polynesian :teeth: .

congratulations,
agnes!

Weddings at the Polynesian are so lovely! I've never been to one, but I've witnessed many out on Sunset Point. The location is just perfect with the Palm trees swaying, the violinist playing, the views of Cinderella's Castle across the water... You get my vote to honeymoon there too. I think the theming and grounds are incrediably romantic, especially those late nights walks when the Tiki torches are lit and you can watch the castle changing colors. The convenience getting to the MK and Epcot can't be beat either. I think the 3 of you would enjoy all the resort has to offer. Congratulations and much happiness to all! :)

BC is a great resort and a great location to Epcot but it might be harder to keep an eye on the daughter at Storm Along Bay at the BC because of its size. I would also think that since the wedding is at the Polynesian, wouldn’t it be nice to be close so if you had to run back to the room you could? Also they have some shaded areas around the volcano pool or he could even sit for a while under the area where the water fall is to watch his daughter and than go sit on a covered lounge chair on the beach or a table with an umbrella near the bar area. Also getting into the MK could not be easier and even getting to Epcot is quick.

By the way if you could ever share some of your photos I know someone starting a Disney Wedding and Honeymoon planning site that would love to use a few.

Aloha

Steve

Since you are going to both MK and Epcot I would say Poly because you can grab the monorail at the TTC without having to transfer (if you are in Tahiti it is closer to walk to TTC than the GCH (though neither are terribly far). The boat launch to the Poly from MK is also very nice. With BC I would say that having to do bus service would be a downer. Also, I hear the neverland club at Poly is great (kids beg to go) and you and your new husband could have some couple time.

hmmm, if you're going in July, just be warned that its very hot! We went end of July, and I do love a Hot Tub, but now when its THAT hot out, I did find the jets at the pool refreshing on my sore feet, and back... however, it was a popular place in the pool!!

I encourage both of you to read Ray Sharpton's post > >

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=822281 Here's part of his Post

"I never had to think about planning ahead of time how to space my walking and the time to make it to certain places. Or even if I did think about it, I realized that it didn't make any difference. I had a scooter to go everywhere. For those that don't understand, I just wouldn't go if I didn't think that I could make the trip. I would stay in the room rather than worry whether or not I would have to ask for help getting back to my room for inability to go any further.

I understand how painful and dibilatating a back injury can be, but if he would like to consider sharing this awesome experience with his bride and his DD - read Ray's post!! (and make sure you get the Bride ears! and top hat ears!)

You will have a beautiful wedding there. Dh and I were married there almost 5 yrs ago and LOVED it. However we stayed at the WL. We love the WL. We have also stayed at the YC. The YC/BC have an awsome pool. We liked WL's pool, but really like the Stromalong BAy. I can't comment on the POLY b/c we didnt' stay there. DOn't forget about the Boardwalk area. It's gorgeous at night. We had a room in the rose garden courtyard with a direct view out across the lake. The YC has been my favorite so far. Have fun!
