Hi, I am sure some of you have stayed at both and I am wondering which you like more and why. I have not stayed at Wilderness Lodge since 1999, what if any major changes have there been? I just stayed at the Polynesian a week ago, and they are rerenovating building by building.

I am going for a week later this summer and am working to confirm reservation and dates and I am stuck between one of these two, or just the ASSp for price.

if you haven't been to WL since 1999, but just visited the Polyn go with the WL - the villa are new - you might consider renting points from a DVC member and stay there but the views are as good - WL courtyard view can't be beat (in my opinion) it is really pretty - and yes I have lagoon views at the Polyn, Contemporary, YC, BC, BWV, POR I just like the courtyard view at the WL better.

We have stayed at Poly, WLl, and AKL. The Poly has larger rooms, and has that neat Pool area. The AKL has nice rooms, we were in a deluxe, and all those animals. WL is a neat lodge. The atmosphere was great. We stayed there during Christmas season. The rooms felt small. Our favorite is AKL, followed very closely by Poly, and finally WL. But on our next trip we want to try Beach Club area.
It depends on your family and their likes and dislikes. If you have small children the Poly is great because of the monirail. If you like quiet time WL is the place.
Enjoy which ever you choose. -Kathy

Between WL or Poly, I personally would stay at Poly. The rooms at WL are pretty dark. That makes the rooms seem smaller. The Poly's rooms are bigger to begin with. Being from the Northeast, I see plenty of pine trees and such here. To me there is nothing better than seeing palm trees when on vacation. To DH and I, it makes it truly seem like we are some place special when there are palm trees blowing in the wind. Plus Poly's got the monorail! Makes getting to MK and Epcot so easy! Not to mention dining at restaurants in GF or CR.

Our vote is for the WL...the Poly has a lot more of younger kids then the WL does. And we enjoy the "newer" feel of the hotel...not to sure how to put that...

I think for us it's all about the theme and the WL isn't our cup of tea though many people love it. We enjoyed the Poly over the WL for the room size, the theme and the proximity to the MK and monorail. We could also walk to the TTC rather than bus or boat as well.

I love them both -- but, WL gets the nod. Why?
Price -- compare courtyard WL to garden Poly. I just don't love the Poly enough to pay that much more, even for the monorail!

I've stayed at both and prefer WL. Yes, Poly has larger rooms, the monorail and we had a view of the castle. However, I like the decor at WL better and have never thought of the rooms as dark. I don't remember the color combinations used at Poly being very light either. WL has a lot of special touches. The sculptures of animals in the lobby and elsewhere are fun to see. The teepee light fixtures are fantastic. I could sit in the lobby for an extended length of time and be very happy. I also like the fact that for the main lodge everything is under one roof. To get to the villas, you have a covered walkway. WL has a very good tour led by Ranger Stan.
