Thanks for sharing! I am seriously considering buying a fixed week and cannot decide between resort view or theme park view.
I’d rather be surprised by a good standard view than disappointed by a bad theme park view… for what it’s worth.

I think with the addition of those lagoon view terraces and the savings in points, I would choose resort view. The video disneyworld vacationer posted the next day shows the terraces not busy even during fireworks.
There's a gate at the Island Tower, but it's not manned. There's a call button which you can use to speak with someone. We checked in on-line and used our magicband to access the area. Once you park and go inside, there are cast members with iPads to help you. They'll get luggage carts or hold your luggage if your room isn't ready. There's no check-in desk like the Poly.
So, your magic band worked before you used it to access your room?
Yes. We were able to open the unmanned arm gate at the Island Tower upon arrival. Did online check in, room not ready yet.

Same for us, never use online check-in. Plus we are using Lyft to drop us off, so how is that done??.
You would go to the Island Tower. They have cast members in the lobby that will check you in.
