What's the best way to get from the Poly to MGM Studios? We requested a longhouse near the TTC, so I was thinking we could monorail over to Epcot and then walk or ride the boat over. Will that work?

If we do bus, what's the estimated time?

Thanks to any "insiders" who have more experience than me! :rolleyes1

THe monorail to EPCOT and walk through to the back alone to where you get on the boat to MGM will take you about 45 minutes alone, without the boat ride, which would be shorter than walking, as you must walk all the way to the Boardwalk hotel backside by the Swan to find the path to MGM, wich is a good 35 minute walk alone (the path). The wait for the MGM bus can take as long as 20 minutes, with a ride that can also take 20 minutes or longer as you sometimes go to other hotels in MK to pick up too. I'd say allow an hour by bus to be safe.

Just take the bus from the Poly....for God's sake, there is enough walking at WDW without looking to find more of it! :lmao: Maggie

Definately the bus ... short walk to Grand Ceremonial House ... short walk to bus stop. Get on bus ... :teeth:

I do not remember the timing ... maybe allow an hour total ... that is the total including possible wait for bus and walk to entrance. I really can't remember but I don't think the actual bus trip took an hour. maybe 35-45.

If the bus goes directly to MGM, its 20 minutes (or less.)

If it goes first to Grand Floridian, (likely it will) add another 10 minutes.

And, as others have stated, you don't know how long before an MGM/DHS bus will arrive to pick you up (20 minutes between is the norm.)

I don't believe you can walk directly from the Epcot Monorail station to MGM anyways - you'd have to go through the park and out through the International Gateway - which means you'd need a park hopper ticket to do it.

If you were insistent on getting SOME sort of sneaker mileage out of it, and don't want to go through Epcot, take the monorail to MK and a bus back to Boardwalk (closest) or Beach Club (farthest), and walk from there. It's about 20 minutes from Beach Club at a brisk walk.

The bus. Unless you want to walk down to the Ticket and transportation center to catch the bus. If you walk from Epcot to MGM you need to get inside EPCOT to do that like the last poster said.. So, it looks like the bus is the best bet.

Just take the bus. It'll be much quicker and not have the headache of transfers or all the extra walking.

We waited at the bus stop in front of the Grand Ceremonial House and got on a bus listed as MGM. It only took us about 20 minutes. It was the end of April beginning of May and a very easy trip. :goodvibes

If you arrive as a bus is coming, that is a good time frame, but on our last trip we must have sat down on a bench right after the bus left beacuse I swear we waited almost 30 minutes, asnd saw buses for everywhere else come by in the meantime.

The other obvious choice is to take your car, if you have one.

Never stayed AT the Poly, but many other resorts. The wait time mid day (at every Disney resort) can be about 30 minutes for each bus. During peak times it is usually shorter, unless there is a crowd ahead of you and the bus fills up, and you have to wait for the next bus to arrive...but usually if the bus fills up, it's when you just got to the bus stop right when the bus was arriving.

So if you're looking at waiting 30 minutes for a bus then driving will be faster, except that when you get to the park, you'll still have to get through the pay booth (usually fairly short, but could be longer) , and also from the parking lot to the park entrance - which may take five minutes, or may take 15 depending on where you end up parking. So it won't really save that much time, esp. if you go during a peak time.

Take the bus. The bus system is very efficient. I am sure there is always an isolated incident of someone walking up and just missing the bus and then the next bus happens to be a little behind schedule and you end up with a long wait, but in the many visits we have had to WDW that has only happened to us one time. Usually takes around 20 to 25 minutes to get to one of the parks.
