I can FEEL your giddiness... Keep it coming!

(And the fab pictures, too!)

Hmm...maybe I'll have to stay at POP someday! The last time we stayed at a Value (2003), it was juuuuuust being completed. We've stayed at ASSports (gotta be careful with that acronym!) and ASMu. I have like, "dream buildings"/rooms for each of the WDW resorts...shows how much I read through my travel guides, even if we don't have a trip planned :rolleyes1

Great update! I thhink I was giggling right along with you! It's so much fun to just walk around Pop and see what you can find. It never fails that I see something on a TR that I totally missed. Cocoa is a fantastic tour guide!

Hey Miss Snobbish!!!

You left a reply on my TR awhile ago and I had been meaning to check out one of your previous TRs, then I saw this one on the main page and had to read!!

I am officially in love with you. Pop is my favorite resort, and this photo tour you've just taken us on absolutely made my day. Really, really, thank you. It gave me that little boost, but also of course made me ACHE!! Man I miss it there so much!

Know that you are a great photographer. I love your photos and I am so looking forward to the rest of this TR. Awesome, awesome job.

Really great pictures of Pop, it is a nice place to stay on a budget. We really had a fun time when we stayed there too. BLT looks so nice, maybe someday I will try to rent some points and stay a few nights.

Looking forward to your Chef Mickey review.

I was behind on your TR, but for a good reason- I was in Disney!

Now I am all caught up and still loving it. Pop is one of my favorite resorts, I loved your photo tour!

OH!! Don't you hate to be disappointed in a favorite place? Thats the WORST!! To know how it was,before...and now it's not...kinda sickening!! Sorry it was so bad--but at least Ms. Stephanie redeemed it a little bit..those little dudes looked mighty tasty!!!

CM was kinda lame when we went, too...at least they had ice cream...LOL!

OOOHH, so THAT'S where Amaris worked! I always wondered where he worked! How cool!

But I must agree, what is UP with the beef at the buffet restaurants? My prime roast at 1900 Park Faire was icky! I was told to stay away from the kid's table ('cause, ya know, I WAS turning 17 that day...) but I may or may not have strayed there...just once! I swear!

:(. I had a capital letter Bad experience at CM's in '06, and have not returned.
I, too, am glad to know where Aramis worked.

What a disappointment! I've never eaten there, but even without anything to compare it to, that picture of the desserts looks so minimal and sad! Glad you at least got those Mickey domes (which look wonderful!)

Disney disappointments are the the worse, for sure. I don't want anything rain on my pixie dust!

Oh my Goodness I just adore Chef Mickey's. ADORE.

But only for breakfast. If it weren't for the overwhelmingly terrible reviews I've consistently heard for years of their dinner, we definitely would have tried it already. But alas. At least we'll always have breakfast. Though I hear they have lunch now, too. Wonder if that's as bad as dinner. Wouldn't it be funny if the lunch was AMAZING suddenly? I'd die and go to Heaven!

I must say though, the chef bringing you out the Mickey domes really was one of those things that sets Disney apart from every other major corporation out there. I love those little touches that just make you feel the magic 100%. And my goodness do they look delicious!

Your description of watching the fireworks made me want to be there OHHH so bad, as if I didn't want to already. I know exactly how you felt at that moment. And thanks for the warm wishes about my trip :)

Hi, there...a little late but now subscribing!

I agree with disneygirl: We love Chef Mickey's for breakfast and always, ALWAYS avoid it for dinner. Sorry to hear about your experience, but looking forward to reading more!

How surprising to hear that they were keeping back the Mickey Mousse Domes in order to get rid of some ripe tiramisu. Doesn't sound like Disney. Seems as though they could have used up the tiramisu in another way -- sent it up to a concierge lounge, etc.

Looking forward to the next installment! :)

We did CM for breakfast and I was not thrilled. The cost is way too high. I know it is the experience with the characters as well as food, but still you want something good to eat!! ;) Those MMD are so good...had those last year! Also, I read somewhere (I read so many different sites on Disney!) that Mickey is now taking photos at the plate and utensil photo-op local and no longer making visits to the tables. Mixed opinions on that one!

Great timing on the fireworks! What a great way to end the first night!! :goodvibes

CM's dinner wasn't good for us when we went either, and this was back in 2007. I'm willing to give their breakfast another try, it's been a while since we ate there for that. I hope CM was your only bad meal of the trip.

.....
Chef Mickey's has always been a Snobbish family favorite -- as much (or more) for the tradition than for the food. Every trip, from the very first one, we've had the first dinner of vacation here. It's so fun having the monorail whizzing by, having Mickey and the gang coming round. It's an emotional connection, so we usually don't mind that the food is sometimes not as good. I've felt that it's kinda bounced around in the past, but never bounced to outright awful. On our last visit in 2009, I even thought it had been a little better.
.....

Your family is just like us ---- for every trip (7 trips since 2000) we have eaten dinner at CM's for our first Disney dinner. The first time we went it was great! It was my DD's first trip to WDW and she was 3. It became a tradition to eat there but I have to say that by the 5th year of eating there I was SO over CM! We ate there during our last trip in 2008, against my protests, and by the end of the dinner even DH was saying "no more". Our next trip is in 3 weeks and this will be the first time we aren't eating at CM. I can't say I am sad.

Signing on...I've lurked on your reports in the past, but never found them early enough to catch up and comment! Loving your report so far, though Chef Mickey's sounds sooooooo disappointing.

I love palm trees, too. And I so associate them with Disney that if I see them on a non-Disney trip, it's really just torture! (Unless I'm in Hawaii. Then it's OK.)
