Family and I will be staying at Polynesian. After kids go to bed the wife and I would like to be able to go out on patio and perhaps take turns going in pool. Is there a ground floor room that faces the Oasis pool? If so which Longhouse?

Thanks!

Yes! Samoa, my favorite longhouse, faces the Oasis pool as well as Rarotonga. Niue is right beside Samoa, and would also be a good consideration. I’m not sure what type of room you booked, but I believe Samoa and the side of Rarotonga that faces the pool are pool/garden view rooms. If you booked a standard room, Niue is probably your best bet.

My family stayed in a ground floor patio room in Rarotonga facing the pool. It was a great location. I think we were the 2nd room down the hall when you walked in the building (coming from the Great Ceremonial House).

Touring plans has a map that will tell you the various room types and often a picture of the view.

I don’t believe poly has a garden room type, just standard and then pool/marina view. I think most if not all of the rooms facing the quiet pool are standard.

I’m not sure why this would be an issue if you’re taking turns being in the room anyway?

It would be awesome to be close enough to the pool to chat with your spouse while swimming. I’m not sure any are nearly that close but some are certainly closer than others.

I booked a Pool/Marina view room and I guess in my room requests I could put "facing quiet pool" and then second list one of these 3 buildings you mentioned? Aside from Raratonga being closer to the TTC, are any of them better?

I'm not sure what "Pool/Marina view" actually means -- if it is truly the Marina and also Volcano pool, or if I can also request the quiet oasis pool view too. Does anyone know for sure? Because if that's the case it also looks like Hawaii could possibly have some of those (on the "south" side of the building).

I’d request Samoa, facing the Oasis pool. I’m not sure if any Rarotonga rooms are considered pool view.

FYI, Hawaii is Club Level. You would need to book a Garden View Club Level room to get a room facing the Oasis Pool in that building.
Thanks -- I think I had heard that and it makes sense but just looking at map I am just guessing what rooms would be able to face a pool. Probably not the best method :)

IMO you’re threading a thin needle with that view category and wanting a ground floor room facing the Oasis Pool. Pool/Marina can in fact just be Marina (so that one side of Fiji that faces the Marina). So you’re basically going for 1 of the 8 ground floor, Oasis Pool facing rooms in Samoa… and that’s a pretty small % of the overall Pool/Marina room inventory.

If this were me, my request would be “Facing Oasis Pool, Ground Floor Room” and leave it at that… but be prepared you could be anywhere.

Not sure if CL is in the budget but the only way to guaranty an Oasis Pool facing room would be Garden View Club Level… then you could request first floor. There are a lot of those rooms so your chances of getting that request would go up.

(FWIW, not trying to spend your money but traveling with our little ones is when we got hooked on Poly CL)

Hope that helps.

So actually I'm not OP and I just kinda jumped in here with my own question since it was similar. I am not hoping for ground floor, just facing oasis pool. But I think your advice is sound -- just request "Facing Oasis pool" is what I will put. I guess if you are saying 8 ground floor that means there are 24 in Samoa facing the quiet pool if I don't care what floor?

I guess my plan is not the best -- I upgraded from standard to pool/marina and hoped I could get something over on the side further away from the new construction but it seems like it's very likely I will be in Fiji or maybe even Tonga. I suppose there is also possibility of getting in Samoa and facing the Lava Pool -- I'm not stuck on the quiet pool view, just would prefer the "pool" part of the pool/marina view since it would put me more in the middle of the resort. :(

(Thanks again for your replies)

edit: Ok so I found the TouringPlans view selector and it looks like with my view I'll either be in Samoa or Fiji (but facing Marina, not the construction. Bottom line is I guess I just want to put "Samoa, 1st/3rd floor, view of quiet pool" given my desire to be further from construction and would prefer a balcony, then quiet pool last. Thanks to GADisneyDad14 and others -- and sorry to OP for hijacking this thread.

Ahh! Sorry about that, reading too quickly and was confused.

Well if it helps Samoa as a whole has more Pool/Marina rooms than Fiji. :-)

I actually think your plan is the best for the circumstances… you’re in a room type that is guaranteed to not face construction… the same can’t be said for the Standard view category as that could easily put you in Aotearoa or Fiji facing construction (assuming they intend to keep those rooms occupied).

So worst case scenario you’re in Fiji with a room facing the Marina and you see a construction fence when you walk in/out of your building and maybe hear some noise, but that’s it. Not ideal for sure, but not horrible either (subjective comment there, of course).

FYI, you won’t be in Tonga - that building only has suites.

The Poly longhouse roulette is arguably one my least favorite attributes of Poly, but I hope it all works out for you and you have a great stay.

Actually when you put it that way I guess it was not a bad plan after all. :)

I would have just done the DVC studios to be really far from that side since they were still available but my daughters really want the Moana room (or we probably would have saved some cash and stayed at WL, which my wife and I really enjoyed based on youtube tours!).

(also... I really am digging the look of the Moana rooms myself!)
