Has anyone stayed at the Polynesian recently, and can tell me how it is? Good reports would be nice:) But if you had bad experience I will hear those too. Thanks::MinnieMo

We stayed there 9-12 thru 9-19 for our honeymoon and it was perfect. The resort was in perfect condition, no sign of the hurricanes that had come through. I know the Poly gets alot of bad remorks on these boards for it's "Old Look" and "musty Smell" in the rooms but we saw no evidence of this. Our room was spotless and in perfect condition. Mousekeeping was prompt and cleaned our room perfectly each day. All the CM's we came into contact with were friendly and very helpful. They even offered to upgrade us to a lagoon view room, (we declined because I think the view of the grounds at the Poly is even better than the Lagoon). We had room 3943 in Tokelau and the view of the quiet pool area was awsome. Being able to hop on either monorail is just an added bonus.

Can't wait to go back !!

I have rhinitis, please tell me its not musty!!!
Your honeymoon didnt paint it nicer then it really is? Love in your eyes etc.....haha just funnin
thanks for your input

We have stayed there twice and have had a wonderful time each time. The location, CM's and style/layout is perfect. Go to Tikimans website. He has a lot of info/pictures on this resort..smjj

We've stayed there twice, and really enjoyed it! We'll be back!

We were there in August for the first time and really liked the resort! The theme is wonderful, the zero entry pool was perfect for my littlest daughter, Ohanas was terrific and concierge could not have been better!...and the bonus, riding the monorail to MK and Epcot couldn't have been faster and easier!::yes::

did you have garden view room? was it nice, didnt smell musty?
did they have room service and did they have pay per view movies in the room?

We stayed there 9/18-9/23 for part of our honeymoon.

The good:

Room size! It's nice to have those huge rooms. And we both are very sensitive to smells, and mold is one of my wife's asthma triggers. Neither one of us had any sort of problem with mold.

The restaurants. Ohanas was DELICIOUS, albeit somewhat expensive. Neither one of us ate $25 worth, but it was delicious, and the service was wonderful. We had stayed at the Beach Club the 5 nights prior, and NOT having a convenient counter service place was a pain in the neck. Captain Cook's was WONDERFUL for a quick bite to eat, as well as for the refillable mugs.

The monorail. How convenient to just hop the monorail and get to the Magic Kingdom, or WALK to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot. The location of the Polynesian, in my opinion, is the best of the Magic Kingdom resorts.

The pool. We loved the zero depth entry, as well as the volcano! I didn't get a chance to go down the slide, but I REALLY wanted to! :) The quiet pool was closed, so I can't say much about that.

The landscaping. It's SO pretty. The bamboo, the foliage...it's just wonderful. There's nothing better than just sitting in a lounge area of the Great Ceremonial House and just enjoying the plants and the waterfall.

Cast members! Some of the cast members were so wonderful, and helpful! Shirley at the Polynesian Princess conversed with us each time we picked up a package. She had been affected by the hurricanes and her daughter was worried. We asked her how that was coming along, and she asked us how we were enjoying our honeymoon. Jane at Captain Cook's was friendly, and also struck up some conversation when we saw her! :)

The bad:

Cast members. I listed this in both because as great as some cast members were, others were downright rude. Nancy, who checked us in, was one of the rude ones. She didn't acknowledge us when we were waiting to check in and we and she were the ONLY ones there!!!!! Housekeeping also gave us issues when we asked to have the sheets changed. We had some of those little bugs that others have seen, and we asked ONCE to have the sheets changed and got attitude.

Location. To get to other places around property, it was pretty far removed from everything else. Seeing the castle is great, but I much prefer to be in a central location, and I found the Epcot resorts area much more central.

That's all I can think of for now! :)

Hi Minniemouse51,
As a fellow grandma, I can tell you the Polynesian is the best. We stayed there with our two children and spouses and four grandchildren. You just cannot beat this location and theme for children. The boys (4, 5) absolutely loved playing in the sand by the beach. We enjoyed the hammocks while they played. Our sweet little Sophie loved the volcano pool (4 yrs.) because of the zero entry. We stayed in Fiji longhouse, garden view and was pleasantly surprised how convenient it was and no musty smell. We had three separate rooms and none of them were musty.
We are going back in two weeks with one of the families (now with three boys) and look forward to the amenities of the Poly.
No pay per view movies, but we never needed movies.......there is just too much to do. Have a wonderful trip.

We stayed there about 2 wks ago LVC. It was great. We got lucky being there in between storms. Everyone was nice to us, we never had any probs with CM's.

The 3 ladies who run the kids events at the GF were awesome too!

I have a few pics in my sig.

LOL!!!! I just have to laugh because we were there for our honeymoon from 9/18-9-23 and we stayed in room 3940 in Tokelau!!!!!

It was a great time. The room was very nice and the people at Captain Cooks and the gift shops were VERY friendly. The front desk was a little surley but i'm sure that's the luck of the draw.

another thing we loved about the Poly was it was quiet at night, none of that usual hotel noise at all and the beds were so comfy. I'm one of those people who don't sleep well in hotels but at the Poly I slept like a baby. We were in Rarotonga and it was great. We were there in September and I can't wait to go back.
