We are booked into a lagoon view room at the Polynesian and have requested the third floor in the Tuvalu building.

Have any of you stayed there? Which room, and what was your view? I think this building and floor will be good for us because we wanted to be somewhat close to the GCH, but have a good view of (hopefully!) the castle! And we want a balcony, not a patio, which is why we requested the third floor.

I'd appreciate any comments and pictures of the rooms or views you might have.

Tikiman has already showed me a picture of what the view from here sort of looks like, and it looks amazing!! But I'd love to hear other comments and opinions too :)

Thanks! :wave2:

SeaSpray,

I did not stay in Tuvalu, but I did stay Hawaii LV on 3rd floor w/balcony. The one suggestion I would make to you would be to ask for the best possible view, whether it is of the castle or something in particular you are looking for. You can receive alot of different opinions, and each time you get one you may wonder if you made the right choice. Obviously you will make your choice and Disney will try to accommodate, but all I can tell you is it worked out great for us.
Have a Magical trip and enjoy........Your going to Disney World!

We stayed at Tuvalu two weeks ago (sigh -- it seems like ages ago). We had a lagoon view on the first floor. It was a spectacular view but I do think the third floor would be better. On the first floor, the view of the castle is partially blocked by the island in the middle of the lagoon. The second floor doesn't have a balcony.::yes::

Yahoo!!!!! I have never stayed at the Poly, but have a wonderful time. What a great way to end your cruise vacation!!!!! During a recent stay on DVC points, we pool hopped to the Poly and our DSs claimed it was their favorite pool. Keep your room key/ID handy though...many people were asked for ID when there. We had to show ours to get a towel.

We have been thinking about a meal at the Poly on the day we disembark since we won't be in the parks that day.

Did you see the recent navigator for our cruise that is posted?? WOW.....now I am REALLY excited! Still wish we were on the same cruise.

Hi Karen!

Yes I just saw the new Navigators for the western itinerary today! It figures, because I just printed them all out last Thursday (the older ones). LOL
Have you ever eaten at the Polynesian before?? We've had dinner at the Kona Cafe and at O'Hana, and breakfast and lunch at the Kona. We really enjoyed all of the meals. While we were there, we toured the resort and a CM showed us a room. DSs thought the volcano pool and slide looked pretty cool, and we all decided we'd like to stay there.
I, too, wish we were on the same cruise!!

Walt'sFan and EdDome:

Thanks so much for your comments, I really appreciate them :) I stayed up until 4am last night researching old threads about lagoon views and buildings, and reading more on Tikiman's web site, and I (think) I have finally come to the conclusion that short of staying in a Hawaii Lagoon View Concierge room, the 3rd floor Lagoon View in Tuvalu, is where we want to be :sunny:

I'm still interested in other opinions and comments too, if anyone else has stayed in Tuvalu Lagoon View, especially 3rd floor :)

We were on the third floor of Tuvalu on our last two trips (maybe in the same room both times, not sure). We were on the third floor, about the 2nd or 3rd room from the end closest to the marina.

The view from the balcony was outstanding! :D We could see the castle, the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary. I also got several good pictures of the kids heading out into the lagoon in water mice.

Hope you have a magical trip!

SeaSpray:
We stayed in Tuvalu approx 4 years ago (when it was still called Samoa!). We also had a lagoon view room closer to the marina end of the bldg on the 3rd floor. View was unobstructed to MK and a favorite way for me to start each day was to sit on the balcony with my tea and watch the sun come up :D The only downside to Tuvalu is that you have to walk around the marina to get to the pool......otherwise, it is close to the GCH/monorail and quiet (the luau did not bother us at all). Have a terrific time!!!!
