We got back yesterday from 10 days at the Polynesian resort. Overall, I give my stay at 9 out of 10. The new room design will certainly up it to a 10+!
I love everything about this resort! The room size was great with two little ones. We were given connecting rooms (a door inside that leads directly into another room). My parents were in the next room 1904 and we were in 1903. Having the connecting rooms made it feel like we were in a suite. We were in Tokelau. I like this location a bit better than Tahiti (where we stayed in 2001). We were on the 1st floor and our rooms were ready when we checked in at 10:30am. We were able to sit on the patio in the mornings and watch the ducks - my 3 year old DS loved this! We were a short walk anywhere! DH and I watched the fireworks from Sunset Point on my birthday - so romantic! We were only about a 2.5 minute walk to the GCH and a 5 minute walk to the TTC. Captain Cook's was ok - it really needs to be expanded, but it wasn't awful. The food was good there - mostly ate breakfast and lunch there. CM's were friendly. We got leis upon check in and the CM who checked us in was very nice. She was "earning her ears" and did a great job! I love the new Boutiki. I was upset that they were out of Polynesian magnets - I collect magnets from all my Disney trips. I'm going to call WDW Merchandise in a couple of weeks to see if I can have one mailed to me.
We ate at 'Ohana and Kona. Both were awesome! DH and I have gotten to know Aida, the pastry chef at Kona, over the years and she was working the night we ate there. She sent us over two KoKo puffs for our anniversary. She remembered how much I love KoKo puffs, and they're not on the menu anymore, but she was able to cast some Disney magic on us!
We did have one incident with housekeeping. Our mousekeeper accidentally knocked my DH's electric razor off the charger and it broke. They were so nice about it. They replaced the razor the same day. They replaced it with a rotary, which DH doesn't use, so we told them and they apologized again and gave us a $72.00 credit for the razor.
I can't wait until the new room designs are complete. Then I know I won't want to stay anywhere else. There is nothing like the ambiance at the Polynesian! And the location is #1, plus the pure Disney feeling you get being there. I love it!!!
I have decided, though, that the next time I stay there, I'm going to book a LV and hopefully a CLV. I've already started saving my $$$.
Anyway, if you're going to the Polynesian soon, enjoy! Aloha!!!
