SeaSpray hope you are having a great time on the Jersey shore! I know Bridgewater well, I spent much of my time growing up on my grandparents farm. I'm another south shore girl from Whitman.

Just got back home to Massachusetts :sunny: :sad1: Mixed emotions because I had such a wonderful time in NJ, at the beach and spending time with my sister and niece, but glad to be home because I missed my DH and DS17.

Whitman is just 1 minute away from me! :hourglass

wendypooh: I will get to your PM soon, if I have not already. I was able to reply to several PMs while in NJ but not all of them. :)

Oh my Terry - I was already desperate to stay at the Poly one day - and now you've made it even more so :teeth:

What simply fabulous photos and such wonderfully detailed descriptions. I almost feel I was there with you!

Thank you :)

Welcome Home - hope you had a good time, but yeah, I agree, there's no place like home......... click click (ruby slippers)

Yes, you did get back to me, and I thank you for your advice!!!! You've been a big help!!!

Terry, once again a great review.. I have to say though.. Knowing Craig and Robby... it was so funny to see CRAIG smile so much in the pics..lol He better get ready to smile more often. I will have to tell JACLYN that is is really capable to smile,,lol :rotfl2:

SO glad you had a great time and everything went as planned.. except the rain fall..

I loved your report and your pictures. It's a great picture of the four of you in your blue polynesian shirts.

I have never stayed concierge at Disney. We'll be celebrating our 50th anniversary in a couple of years. That sounds like a good way to celebrate. I definitely want a cake like that.

BTW, we have just stayed at the Polynesian once, back in 1974 I believe. The rate then for the best room (non concierge) was $45.00. Do you think they would give me that again?

SeaSpray, your pics are INCREDIBLE! What a wonderful vacation! I'm sooooooooo extremely jealous right now! :faint: We've never stayed on property before, and here I'd been worrying about saving money or "going all out"! You're pictures and report have definitely set my mind at ease and I'm going to tell DH first thing in the morning that the Poly is where I want to be! ::yes:: Thanks again!

LOL Doreen! I have no idea how I ended up with so many pictures with the boys smiling. I know a few times I simply told them "If you smile now, it'll be overwith. If you don't smile, I will stand here and keep snapping pictures until you DO smile". That seemed to work! Out of all the pictures from the cruise last year, I don't think I have them smiling in ANY (or hardly any) of them!!! Definitely show the pics to Jaclyn. ::yes:: I'm sure she'll be shocked too. lol

Thanks Terry for sharing your wonderful pixs!!! Though I am not staying on LV or concierge, just looking at your pixs making my upcoming trip more exciting even more!! Thanks so much Terry!! Glad your stay was "Magical!"

Wow, after reading Terry's review I'm wondering what it would cost to upgrade to concierge. Right now I have a garden view room booked for Nov 12-19. Is it something I can ask for at checkin or do you have to reserve in advance. Does the POLY ever upgrade people for free (to lagoon view) if you ask at checkin.

Thank you so much for posting the pictures. This is our first trip to disney and you've put my mind at ease about booking at the POLY!!!

I hope we have as great a time !

SeaSpray when were you at the Poly. We were there the 11-17th. We stayed Lagoon view concierge. Room 1503. I never saw chef dicks fruit presentation in the concierge lounge when I was there. Actually was kinda disappointed in some things with the Poly. I guess I had high expectations. The breakfast was not a lot to choose from. No oatmeal and it was the same thing every morning. We never got anything for our anniversary from the concierge staff when they knew it was our anniversary. We did get the chocolate and I didn't know I could eat the picture. I ordered some stuff for the girls and they weren't in my room when I got there like I asked them to do. The CM was a blonde male and he didn't give us a warm welcome and we didn't get to choose are leis. It was like he put them around our necks and said aloha not very happily. The view was fantastic, The hotel was pretty. I just wasn't happy with some things. We had the dining plan and I was very upset with Ohanas. The waiter said since we were on the dining plan we could not have dessert only pineapple. Which I thought was very wrong. I am really disappointed the chef wasn't there to do the fruit display.

Hi Leslie :) I just replied on your thread, I didn't know you had replied here first!

I'm sorry you were disappointed :( We checked out on the 10th, the day before you arrived. Chef Dick had the fruit display out on the night of the 7th, I belive. No fruit display on the night of the 8th, and on the night of the 9th I am not sure because we weren't in the lounge that evening at all. Actually, I believe Chef Dick may have been off on the night of the 9th because we saw a female chef preparing things in the lounge that afternoon. You were there for a full week and never saw the fruit? Did you see Chef Dick? Maybe he was on vacation?? At any rate, I'm sorry you didn't get to see the fruit, it was pretty cool.

We did get a card for our anniversary. I don't think they could've possibly missed the fact that July 8th was our anniversary, lol, because I mentioned it before the trip to the pre-planning staff, I mentioned it again at check-in, and the morning of July 8th I had to go to the concierge desk while my DH was up in the room, just to make sure that my plans for the surprise cake were being handled and not misplaced or anything.

Regarding the leis, at the time we were checking in, we were the only family there. I think that's why the CM might've had a little more time to ask my DSs what color lei they wanted. As we were being checked in, another family came in (hi Colleen!!), so they got busier as the morning went on.

The first part of our stay was at the Wilderness Lodge concierge, and when we got to our room I did not see the gold Mickey ears hats that I had ordered through the pre-planning office. The second day I spoke to someone at concierge (at the WL) and asked about the gold ears because if they had forgotten to get them, we wanted to get them done in the parks. Eventually one of the WL concierge CMs told us that the gold Mickey ears would be in our room at the Polynesian. They were actually purchased for me on the day before we arrived, so I am not sure why they waited until we got to the Polynesian to place them in our room, but it did look nice when we checked in there :)

In a way, it felt like our vacation really started once we got to the Polynesian, although we LOVED the Wilderness Lodge itself. Just not sure if we'd stay concierge there again though. I think we'd be happy in just about any room at the WL. There was nothing wrong with concierge at the WL, but what we loved the most about the resort was basically the resort itself, especially the lobby. The Polynesian concierge however, will be a tough act to follow, if we stay anywhere else. I do believe we had the best view on property (along with all the other LVC rooms).

Regarding 'Ohana, we didn't do the Dining Plan, so I am not sure of the rules or policies. Did you ever find out if dessert should've been included?? If it should've been, then I am sorry your server told you otherwise.

Do you think you'd try the Polynesian concierge again? Or even a regular room??

Leslie, We there from the 7-14th and saw the fruit display twice. It occurs from 5-8 or 5-7, can't remember.

I bet Phil gave you the leis. He wasn't overly enthusiastic, but the rest of the concierge staff made up for it throughout the rest of the week.

I also asked the planning office to buy a Pal Mickey for the room and he wasn't there. Normally, I'd get a bit annoyed, but for some reason I was just so thrilled to have the lagoon view and be in Disney that I let it go and never thought another thing about it. It turned out to be a blessing because it was so hot that I think it would have been a pain to carry him around and he would have been left behind every day.

Sorry you didn't have the best experience, but that view was amazing wasn't it???? We were in room 1517.

Terry..I wish we could have hung out together a bit. We could have had drinks on the balcony or the patio!

Did you get a chance to watch the fireworks from the lounge? We tried it one night and didn't like it. The music was so quiet and several families were chatting throughout. I am a wishes fanatic and have to hear the song!

You are so right about that view. I had tears in my eyes when we got to the room and I went out on the patio. What a geek!

Colleen:

I wish we could've hung out too! We spent a fair amount of time in our room, just taking in that view. You are not a geek. lol I still can't get over the view we had. We had a castle view while staying at the Grand Floridian but the view we had from our room at the Polynesian was a hundred times better. It was sort of surreal! lol Even now looking back at the pictures I took, I still can't get over that perfect view of the castle and surrounding lagoon.

I never did see Wishes from the concierge lounge. We were either in the park, or on our balcony, or swimming in the pool, while we watched the fireworks. :)

SeaSpray - Thank you for the wonderful trip report and pictures. Now I Really want to stay at the Poly in concierge. Hmmmm someday!

Have you done a trip report on WL? If you did I have not been able to find it. I still have to finish your Poly one, I am taking it in slowly to enjoy :)

Your pictures are wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

PS. I miss seeing you in the Lizard Lounge. Hope everything is going really well for you.

Hi Angel :)

I'm glad you like my review and pictures. I did do a similar thread for the Wilderness Lodge. I will bump that thread up now. Also, I have a link to my reviews of both resorts, plus the restaurants (including pics!) down below in my signature. :)

Hey SeaSpray what great pictures and review. I love the Polynesian, I am glad you had a great time.

I showed Vexer the pictures and he said that that didn't look like capecad LOL

Hi Astryd! I am cracking up now. :rotfl: Actually, if you look closely, you will see that the VMK capecad and the real capecad do have one thing in common; they both have those bushy eyebrows! lol Or, as I have to say on VMK "eye browns". :rotfl:
