SeaSpray when were you at the Poly. We were there the 11-17th. We stayed Lagoon view concierge. Room 1503. I never saw chef dicks fruit presentation in the concierge lounge when I was there. Actually was kinda disappointed in some things with the Poly. I guess I had high expectations. The breakfast was not a lot to choose from. No oatmeal and it was the same thing every morning. We never got anything for our anniversary from the concierge staff when they knew it was our anniversary. We did get the chocolate and I didn't know I could eat the picture. I ordered some stuff for the girls and they weren't in my room when I got there like I asked them to do. The CM was a blonde male and he didn't give us a warm welcome and we didn't get to choose are leis. It was like he put them around our necks and said aloha not very happily. The view was fantastic, The hotel was pretty. I just wasn't happy with some things. We had the dining plan and I was very upset with Ohanas. The waiter said since we were on the dining plan we could not have dessert only pineapple. Which I thought was very wrong. I am really disappointed the chef wasn't there to do the fruit display.
Hi Leslie

I just replied on your thread, I didn't know you had replied here first!
I'm sorry you were disappointed

We checked out on the 10th, the day before you arrived. Chef Dick had the fruit display out on the night of the 7th, I belive. No fruit display on the night of the 8th, and on the night of the 9th I am not sure because we weren't in the lounge that evening at all. Actually, I believe Chef Dick may have been off on the night of the 9th because we saw a female chef preparing things in the lounge that afternoon. You were there for a full week and never saw the fruit? Did you see Chef Dick? Maybe he was on vacation?? At any rate, I'm sorry you didn't get to see the fruit, it was pretty cool.
We did get a card for our anniversary. I don't think they could've possibly missed the fact that July 8th was our anniversary, lol, because I mentioned it before the trip to the pre-planning staff, I mentioned it again at check-in, and the morning of July 8th I had to go to the concierge desk while my DH was up in the room, just to make sure that my plans for the surprise cake were being handled and not misplaced or anything.
Regarding the leis, at the time we were checking in, we were the only family there. I think that's why the CM might've had a little more time to ask my DSs what color lei they wanted. As we were being checked in, another family came in (hi Colleen!!), so they got busier as the morning went on.
The first part of our stay was at the Wilderness Lodge concierge, and when we got to our room I did not see the gold Mickey ears hats that I had ordered through the pre-planning office. The second day I spoke to someone at concierge (at the WL) and asked about the gold ears because if they had forgotten to get them, we wanted to get them done in the parks. Eventually one of the WL concierge CMs told us that the gold Mickey ears would be in our room at the Polynesian. They were actually purchased for me on the day before we arrived, so I am not sure why they waited until we got to the Polynesian to place them in our room, but it did look nice when we checked in there
In a way, it felt like our vacation really started once we got to the Polynesian, although we LOVED the Wilderness Lodge itself. Just not sure if we'd stay concierge there again though. I think we'd be happy in just about any room at the WL. There was nothing wrong with concierge at the WL, but what we loved the most about the resort was basically the resort itself, especially the lobby. The Polynesian concierge however, will be a tough act to follow, if we stay anywhere else. I do believe we had the best view on property (along with all the other LVC rooms).
Regarding 'Ohana, we didn't do the Dining Plan, so I am not sure of the rules or policies. Did you ever find out if dessert should've been included?? If it should've been, then I am sorry your server told you otherwise.
Do you think you'd try the Polynesian concierge again? Or even a regular room??
