We stayed at the Poly in August and now my dd who's turning 7 asked for a Poly themed bday party (at our house). There are about 18 kids total. Any game and activity ideas??? Thanks!

I would try making hula skirts, have a hula dance contest, and maybe even hula-hoop (although that probably isn't very Polynesian). Did you go to O'Hana's, maybe you could make some traditional foods. I have never been to the show, so I am not sure about activities that go on during the show. But those are my thoughts. Good luck on planning the party.

ONE WORD.....LIMBO! They love it and get a great kick out of mom attempting it too.:lmao:

Games/activities----See above sentence, I like the hula contest idea from sage10, conga line???

Decs----palm trees, surfboards, leis

Check out Oriental Trading for ideas and ...oh what is the party idea website???? Partyideas.com or something like that???anyone?? They have some great stuff on there. Have fun and break out the LAPU LAPUs for the adults. HEHEHE!

Did this about 4 years ago... we made leis with tissue paper-(pre-cut by me), bought a hula dance class tape & all the girls learned about the hula-meaning etc. Bought tons of stuff from Oriental Trading-decorations, nets, coconut cups. All girls got different color hula skirts, hair clips-etc. Played Pin the feather tail on the flamingo, lots of different stuff. The group had alot of fun!!! Had a cd playing hawaiian music. Instead of a cake I had cupcakes made into the shape of a fish. It really depends on how much $$ you want to spend!!

Oh I did this theme one year and had a blast. I went online and translated everone's name into Hawaiian, mad sweetnsour chicken and pork, pineapple drinks, pin the stem on the pineapple, hula dances, limbo contests, hot pineapple ( hot potatoe) . I ordered alot of items from oriental trading company and stumps. We had a blast! Play Lilo and Stich music! Have fun.

We did this for DD 2 years ago.

We played hot coconut (hot potatoe), broke a pinata, wore grass skirts and leis....

It was a riot! We got some awesome stuff 50% off at great party since it was the end of summer.

We just did a luau for my daughter.

The August 2008 issue of American Girl has tropical party ideas
