I’m staying at the swan Dec 29 - Jan 3. I was able to get a pretty good rate. We don’t want to be at the parks on NYE due to crowds. Do you think it’s worth it to book 1 night at Poly mid trip? Enjoy the resort for check in and check out day, watch NYE fireworks from the beach. Cost $1300. Or should I just watch Epcot fireworks from the boardwalk? Thoughts?

You don't need to be staying at a monorail resort to watch the fireworks. There is also an outdoor patio on the 4th floor of the Contemporary open to the public that is great for fireworks viewing. If you are saying that one night @ Poly would be $1,300...........then NO I wouldn't choose to stay there for that price.

Personally, I would be more inclined to book a balcony, fireworks view room at the Dolphin which is right across from the Swan. Have a nice dinner, enjoy the fireworks from your room - you will, most likely, save a ton of money and not have to deal with any NYE crowds or traffic. Or even book dinner at Topolino's and watch the fireworks from the terrace there, though your view from a fireworks, balcony room at the Dolphin may be better.

If you really, really want to see MK fireworks on NYE, take the bus from Swan to TTC and watch from the ferry dock. Very similar view as from Poly and they pipe in the music. Then as soon as it’s over you can be among the first on the bus back to Swan, before the hordes begin exiting the monorail and ferry.

Just to add to the great feedback you already have received. Why not consider a Fireworks Cruise to Epcot or MK to view the Fireworks without a crowd. Current pricing is $449 for up to 10 guests per boat.

Also the NYE Fireworks at MK normally happen on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31st. The suggestion from @CarolynFH of taking a MK bus from the Swan to the MK TTC and watching the NYE fireworks either night.

Another option is arrival 12/29-30. They give out wrist bands just make sure you get one on the 30th before you check out. The NYE fireworks are also on the 30th and poly guests get reserved viewing.

Then do Epcot 12/31!

I have done GF or Poly the last 7 years or so for this time. I love poly! They also do a kids fireworks at 6:30pm both 30 and 31. Many don’t mention it but I love it! Also the EWP is in between.

Like previous mentioned, MK does New Year's fireworks on both NYE and on the 30th. You could go watch fireworks from the Poly beach or the boat dock (we did this one year and LOVED it) on the 30th and then watch from your balcony or the Crescent Lake area on the 31st.
