Polynesian Luau worth the price?

I am amazed at the cost per person for the Luau. Is it worth the price? Is there any food available for a vegetarian? Thanks for the input!

When I think luau, I think a pig with an apple in it's mouth. I didn't see any pigs. I was disappointed.

We went in July 2001. The show was great. The food was so-so IMHO.

We went in '98. I enjoyed the show, DW and parents a bit less. Nobody really cared for the food. We will not be back.

If you do go, make sure you go to Mexico in Epcot afterwards and ride El Rio del Tiempo. The same people from the Luau are in videos you see on the ride being ancient warriors from Mexico. Pretty funny stuff.

My husband, I and our 9 year old son and nephew went last december. We all enjoyed the show thoroughly, very professional, very authentic they changed costumes often and the fire show the men do are awesome!!!!
I am trying to remember the food, salad, rice dish, spare ribs, chicken, and a lot of other things that came on a large dish in sections (can't remember). The presentation at the end with the Volcano cake is great!!!
If you use American express to pay for it, you get 20% off!!!! Makes it that much more worth a dinner show.

We have a few traditions that we do each and every WDW vacation. One of them is the Polynesian Luau. We never miss it. I especially adore the show (my husband, however, gets tired of me gawking at the male hula dancer's legs ). Very colorful, very professional, very entertaining. I have a few photos (not the greatest) of the Luau posted here in my on-line photo album.

If you choose to attend the show, I hope you have a lovely time. I will be there again this Fall. Wouldn't miss it for the World. Vacation just isn't vacation without my Luau fix.

if you call them in advance you can pre-order a vegetarian meal. my sisters till rave about the meal we had at the luau several years ago. they had steamed veggies and rice and were very satisfied.

We went in Dec. 99. It was almost too cold to sit through the show. Food was poor(childrens food was even worse.) After they served dinner and we found none of the kids would eat anything and the start of the show wasn't the best we left. Oh, the money we threw away that night............... I think everyone should try it to say they've done it. It seems to get mixed reviews here. I think I would prefer to try Hoop Dee Doo review next time.

When we went in '91 on our honeymoon they served all you could drink Mai Tai's. That made the cost a little more acceptable. It looks like they don't do that anymore..... We enjoyed the show as well as the food, from what I remember.. We also enjoyed the Mai Tais....

I just went to the luau in November. The food that we had was excellent, particularly the chicken and the pineapple bread. The show was spectacular, and I will admit to doing a fair bit of looking at the gentlemen as well.

My only complaint would be that the tables were too close together and we felt crowded. The service was wonderful, we never had to ask for a thing.

A tip--schedule the late show, and arrive early. Then you can sit in the waiting area or near the beach and watch the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. A relaxing way to spend an evening.

Another tip--you might want to schedule this on your first day if you are arriving in the afternoon. That way, you don't waste a day of your park pass for just a few hours. Also a great way to start a vacation!

We didn't think it was at all worth the price. We were enticed by the all you can eat, and the mai tais... well, we never saw a server after they dropped off the 1st serving or either food or Mai Tais... we were extremely disappointed, and the show wasn't overly impressive to us... but everyone has different tastes!
