Actually Rarotonga was the last one to be refurbished in 2004 so it should be in good condition. It is a good location and many love it because it is so close to the GCH.

Aloha Steve! I think I should update my first post. I am no longer doing POP. I am just doing 4 nights Poly and 3 nights POFQ. I wanted to do all 7 nights Poly, but I would miss out on the boat ride to DD and my children and I love this resort. It works out just perfect. While we're at Poly, we will be doing MK and Epcot. And while we're at POFQ, we will be doing MGM and half day at AK.

Thanks guys for keeping me hyped up for this trip! You guys are really getting me excited to be staying at the Poly! I wanted to move it to July, but there's a family reunion that we are going to (New Orleans) and I think 2 trips in a month would be too much. Mahalo guys for sharing your experience there and the not to be missed.

I think I might want to stay at Rarotanga, 3rd floor. I want to be near the GCH and the monorail. I am terrified of the thunderstorm/lighting. If there is one, I know we can easily run to our bldg from the GCH and it won't take but a minute I am sure.

Oops......When we walked into the room, we thought that this bldg. must have been refurbished, so we inquired. But a CM assured us that Rarotonga "was not scheduled yet". Since we had not ever stayed in Rarotonga, we figured that we were just confused. Whatever, the Polynesian rocks! Thanks for updating us. Mihalo!

The rooms in Rarotonga were refurbished last year but maybe they thought you were asking if the rooms had the new design with the new furniture, carpet, TV etc. None of the longhouses have had the new rooms done and are open yet.

A great spot to watch Wishes if you're staying in the Tokelau building is the beach end of the building third floor outdoor staircase landing! We had an absolutely breathtaking view and we could still catch the sounds of the music from the pool area and/or across the water.

When you get to the Polynesian be sure to look for Kiki (I think this is the Hawaiian word for Aunt). She's the older Hawaiian lady working in the Island Guide/Children's area. She's a wonderful woman who has been so good to our family. Make sure to tell her that the Waterfields from Connecticut say hello!

You'll have a wonderful stay, make sure to spend some time enjoying the resort, it's a magical place. And the kids might enjoy visiting the Neverland club, if you go before 4pm you can stay with the kids and enjoy it for free! After 4pm it's a dropoff for a fee adventure I think that was one of the things my kids enjoyed most, go figure!! LOL

I did it... I did it!! I booked Poly for 2 nights.. and WL for 3 nights.. and POFQ for 3 nights!!

I'm a tropical kind of girl.. and I have always been wanting to try the Poly, but just don't have the nerve to book it. I'm always worried that I may not like it for the rate they charge. Well... I will never know if it's worth it and how much I will like it until I stay there. So, I booked Poly for 2 nights! I don't want to stay there for the whole entire trip. I just want to get a feel on how it would be like to stay there. And just in case I will not like it, which I highly doubt, I have my favorite resorts to fall back on.. WL and POFQ!!

I don't care what building they put me in, as long as I am on the 3rd floor with a balcony and near the main bldg.

I already booked my DME. Bus will drop us of at Poly and the bus will pick us up from the POFQ back to the airport.

Any suggestions... tips? TIA!!

I am sooo excited!! It is going to be a wonderful vacation!! AAAaaahhhhh!!!

UPDATE: We have moved our date to first week of Aug. And we are not doing POP. We are doing 4 nights Poly and 3 nights POFQ!! We are sooo excited!!

sounds like you are ready!! I hope you have a BLAST there...your family is gorgeous and I am sorry about the passing of your dh...your children are beautiful and so are you...I am sure you will have an amazing time and I wish you lots and lots of mickey bars and mouse ears

I wish August would get here soon! But then again, I would have to start thinking about "back to school" and that is a dreadful thought! JK. The kids love school... I just don't like getting up early in the morning especially during winter. Anyways...
