Hi all,
Booked to go to the Poly in May/June this year and not sure what longhouse to request with our booking(I know it wont be guaranteed).
Been looking at FIJI but read that this can be noisy with the Aloha dinner show running nightly with loud music, anyone had any experience with this. The other longhouse we are considering is the Samoa?

We will be staying at the Poly for 3 weeks with our two overly excited, cant wait, counting down every minute young boys ( aged 4 & 9) so would like to try and request a longhouse that will feel relaxing, we don't want to have to keep the doors shut to keep noise out or overlook a parking lot.
Please help, many thanks:thanks:

Try Pago Pago - very relaxed, quiet, and it's a short walk to TTC - you can then monorail or boat to MK, monorail to Epcot direct, walk to Poly bus stop (not really much longer than either of your other choices) - ask for the garden side to avoid the parking lot view.

We stayed in Fiji, luau cove side, first floor in August and, yes, on the nights the luau was performed, I could hear it until about 10 pm. What I LOVED about that location was, I could simply open up our patio door, walk out onto the luau cove beach (which was typically empty) and watch the electric water pageant and the fireworks. We've also stayed Fiji, 3rd floor, marina side and that was lovely. We did not hear the luau from that side.

We've never stayed in Samoa, but we've stayed in Rarotonga, third floor, quiet pool side (which I wouldn't recommend until that pool construction is completed), location is excellent (close to GCH and path to TTC).

Honestly, I wouldn't put in a request for a specific longhouse because, if it's full, they won't really know what you are specifically looking for in a room and will put you anywhere. Based on what you wrote, I would request "quiet room", "no parking lot view". You may also want to think about whether you want a balcony (3rd floor), no balcony/patio (2nd floor) or patio (1st floor) and put a floor request in as well.

Pago Pago is DVC, so unless you booked a studio villa, that request will not be honored.

No, booked standard room.

We have always enjoyed a balcony for better views and generally more peace and quiet without people walking past your room, but now might be thinking about patio ground floor as this might give the kids a bit more freedom, are these private with greenery or are they open patios where all who pass can stare at you in your PJs:banana:

Thanks for all the help guys.

The patios are open, so if someone passes by and you have the curtains open, yes, they can see in. That's why we liked the Fiji, luau-cove side patio so much. No on was walking directly by our room (it was a grassy area with a small hill and then the luau cove beach).

I'm also interested in facts about Figi! Just booked our room and requested this longhouse, 3rd floor to ensure a balcony. I didn't realize the Luau was so close!

How loud is the dinner show? Will we hear it with the doors closed? I am leaning towards requesting Fiji for an upcoming Poly stay, but I have young kids (2 & 4), so bedtime is usually around 8pm. We use noise machines for the kids, so I'm not overly concerned. Should I be?

When we were on the luau cove side, I heard the luau, with the door closed until about 10 pm. The show is performed Tuesdays through Saturdays (so you won't hear it Sundays or Mondays). I never heard it when we were on the marina side and I never heard it in Rarotonga. I've stayed in three longhouses at Poly (Fiji, Hawaii and Rarotonga) and Rarotonga was the quietest of the three as it was away from the luau and the lagoon (where you hear the electric water pageant and the fireworks).

Honestly, except for WL, AKL and the upper floors, bay lake side of CR, noise has become my biggest issue at all the deluxes. Between the electric water pageant, boat horns, and fireworks (at BWV over Christmas, the Star Wars fireworks woke us up every night at MIDNIGHT), IMHO, you are hard pressed to find a really quiet room anymore. I think if I were going to Poly now, I would request Fiji, marina side or Rarotonga (though view of pool construction would not be nice.)

We stayed last November in Fiji, marina side on the 1st floor. I really wanted 3rd floor but the location and view could not be beat. This is BY FAR the best standard view on property. We walked out to the beach by the Luau to watch fireworks and there was no one there. It was amazing!!!

Thanks for all your input really appreciated,
For us I don't think fireworks are an issue but the dull noise of beating drums and music from a show going on all evening might get annoying as we are staying for 3 weeks

Did you find the show noisy?

We loved Tokelau both times we were there.

It's close to the TTC, so late night returns from Epcot were a bit easier. It's a bit removed from the hustle and bustle as well. And then there are those full balconies...

We stayed in Raratonga last August and loved the location. Quick walk to Lobby, Quick walk to Buses. Just about quickest walk to TTC you can get in a standard room. No noise at all. We could watch the monorail go by. We asked for and got a ground floor room, which was nice. There is greenery to keep any walking on the sidewalk from seeing in and you can't see the parking lot either. DH and I are back for a night this month and we requested the same building.
