Looking for some advice from past guests of the Polynesian. My family is looking to book a vacation at the Polynesian in early February. Although we have been at other on-site resorts in the past, this is our first visit to the Polynesian. We are staying for 9 nights and are trying to decide on whether to book a "lagoon view" or "garden view" room. For the time of year and length of our stay the price difference is a little more than $800.00. Don't mind spending the extra money if it really makes a difference, but I have heard the "garden view" rooms are just as nice with some facing the pools. In addition, I have heard a lot of good things about the Samoa long house which I think only has "garden views" (a lot facing the pools). Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

if I'm not mistaking...if you get a lagoon view you can possibly see things like the grand floridian, contemporary, and the magic kingdom!...But i'm not positive...and again it's up to you!

We just came back staying at the Poly Garden view. Not bad, facing the marina. Not great either. However, with $800 difference, I seriously would not consider staying in the Lagoon view. While the view is probably great, you can always step outside the room and get the exact view for free. If I were you, I'd stay in Poly Garden for most of the time, and maybe the last couple days staying in AKL Concierge - Savanah view. That to me is money worth spending.

I don't know. After staying in BWV, AKL, Poly, Yacht & Beach, I'm just not really that impressed with Poly. Kinda old, far walk to everything, took forever to go anywhere. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the Boardwalk area resorts all these years.

We stayed Poly GV concierge and loved it, but view is not that important to us. There are some fantastic lagoon views at the Poly, but if you get just an ok one and it will ruin your vacation, then I wouldn't do it. For the same money as LV you could book GV concierge, which is what we ended up doing.

I agree with Goodferry that GVC is another very good option. It is only slightly higher in pricd than a standard lagoon view room, but you receive all of the benefits of staying concierge.

If you think you will spend a great deal of time in your room ... or if the idea of watching fireworks at night, or the electric light parade, from your room sounds appealing, then the lagoon view room is worth the extra money. If you really don't care, then nice garden rooms are plentiful.

If it were me, I'd choose GVC - you'll be in the best location, in my opinion, and have the concierge lounge at your disposal if you feel the urge for a wonderful lagoon view.

Good luck

I think lagoon view is awesome. Going to bed with the castle changing colors in the window is cool. If money is not going to be a problem, i say do it. Alternatively, book lagoon view for the first part of your stay, and when it is time to switch to gv, maybe they will just let you stay in your lv room for free. Might be worth a shot.

Stayed at the Lagoon View a couplke of times....It's the best. The Thrid floor balcony try to get. Watching the fireworks, The Electric light show, Wakiing up in the morning and hearing the wolf cry from the Haunted Mansion. The view is amazing and def. worth the extra money.

We just got back from a stay in Lagoon view concierge. We booked garden but were upgraded to Lagoon. I loved it!

However, if I had to make the choice based on an $800 difference, I would use that difference to stay garden view concierge and skip the lagoon view in a standard room. It is just so convenient to have snacks, breakfast, and drinks available to your family all day.

it comes down to are you going to spend a lot of time gazing out your window...
