OK. I am an obsessive planner! I think you need to know that before I go any further.

I am travelling to WDW in July with a group of 10 family members (we are a Grand Gathering). We're staying at the Polynesian. We were first booked at the Contemporary, but my DH really did NOT want to be there, so we made the change to the Polynesian.

Here is what is on my brain: requesting a building.

Now, I know that a building request is just that, and there is no guarantee. So I shoud quit obsessing right there, right? Not me. I am compulsive, obsessive and should I tell you that I talk of nothing OTHER than our upcoming trip? My DH tells me I am CONSUMED! He's right.

So I first requested Fiji b/c the views from either side are AWESOME.

Then I changed to Aotearoa in hopes that we'd get newly rehabbed rooms.

Then I added Fiji back to the request, just in case Aotearoa wasn't completed (which looks to be the case - we're going July 25th).

Now I changed it to Tahiti b/c that building has double sinks. Is that a good reason?

So I need some tough love here. Tell me the TRUTH about what you think. Should I change my request back to Fiji? Should I take my requests away altogether and trust the "magic?" Should I stick with Tahiti and double sinks? (I should mention that we stayed in Tahiti in 2001 - room 3010 and it was a big, spacious room. We liked it a lot).

I would really love to hear your opinions - but please don't make any nasty comments about room requests because I do know that they are ONLY requests. Thank you!

And I'm STILL having second thoughts.

One more advantage to Tahiti, all rooms have a full balcony or patio, so you would be guaranteed a space to sit outside your room and relax...just more food for thought, good luck on whatever you decide!

I request specific longhouses.

The last few times I requested Rapi Nui (we like to be close to the TTC) but our last trip the bathroom in Rapi Nui was not cleaned & there were dirty towels & an unflushed toilet in there :crazy2: .

So they moved us to Tahiti (that was still one of the 3 longhouses I like).

We were very happy there & my upcoming trip, I requested Tahiti again. My parents are going to be there on Sunday at the BC with my mother's cousin & her family & are moving to the Poly when me, my dh & kids arrive on Tuesday.

Because they will be there early, they will check in much earlier then my plane will arrive. We will have connecting rooms so I gave my mother the list of 3 longhouses in order of preference.

Long story short, go with where you want to stay but have 2 or 3 back-ups just in case the longhouse you want to be in is all booked up.

Have fun (oh I am checking out on the 26th of July so have fun the rest of the week!).

We faxed our requests for our stay in Dec. 2004. We didn't get any of our requests. I had a couple of longhouses in mind. When we got to our room, we didn't want to look at the pool so we called downstairs and asked to change. They were nice about it and we changed rooms. I have gotten other requests by calling the hotel directly and while checking in (not at Poly, only been there once).

One thing I'd throw out of consideration for now: the view. You have a garden view room booked, no matter what bldg. you get. I happen to also think there are no bad views at Poly. But if you want a spectacular view, you'd probably want lagoon view anyway.

We booked garden view for our upcoming trip, and requested Samoa, because it's close to everything we want to do, and happens to have a good view of the volcano pool, if you're on that side. But we asked for a first floor room there so we can literally walk out of our patio and to the pool, rather than just enjoy the view. We're not much for sitting in our room and enjoying the view, so we don't pay extra for that usually.

If you throw out the view from your considerations, and since all the views are pretty good ones at the Poly, you can focus on which building gets you closest to all the amenities your big party will want. Once you have a building picked out that meets your amenities needs, you can then focus more on what part of that building and what floor would give you the best view out of your remaining selection of rooms.

I stayed in Samoa in 2001 and loved it, which is why we requested virtually the same room this time, and I hope we get it. But Tahiti seems awfully convenient to the TTC, and is tempting. Easy trips to MK and EPCOT from there.

Good luck in your planning.
