Never say never but I doubt it. No good place to put it other than hotel conversions or demolition of current buildings.

I agree with Dean. I doubt it too, although anything is possible.

Disney's Polynesian Resort and its too-small parking lot are wedged between the TTC, the Seven Seas Lagoon, the Wedding Pavilion and roads that can't really be moved because of the golf course.

As Dean noted, Disney could demolish or convert existing buildings, but the Polynesian is a highly popular Deluxe Resort, with rooms that generate huge revenue for Disney.

If Disney ever decides to close the Luau show, the land could be used to expand the resort -- but even then, I would see Disney adding more Deluxe rooms rather than a DVC wing.

With the AKV Kidani Village and the as-yet-unannounced Contemporary DVC resort both under construction now, it's likely that if will be years before there's another DVC resort built at a Deluxe Resort.

Yes there will, but the logistics will be tough. I think there will be DVC at all the Deluxe Resorts in the next 20 years.

hmmm :scratchin interesting to see two people COMPLETELY positive that there will never be one and one person who sounds confident that there will be. I suppose I asked this question because I'd love to stay at the poly but the only way I probably ever could afford it would be if there was a DVC resort.

thanks! I'd love to hear more opinions!

Please reread what Dean and I wrote. Both of us left the door open to the possibility, yet you wrote that we are "COMPLETELY positive that there will never be one."

A DVC resort needs land.

BWI and BWV were designed and built at the same time on undeveloped property. BCV required moving an asphalt valet parking lot and building above a water channel, but those weren't significant. WL had plenty of room for the adjacent VWL. AKL sits in the midst of a huge tract of undeveloped property, so there was plenty of land for AKV.

The north wing (and the south wing for that matter) are a poor use of valuable land at the CR; I wouldn't be surprised if the CR is eventually flanked by two DVC towers.

The charm of the POLY would be hurt by high-rise construction there, so a DVC resort would need to maintain the style of the current POLY longhouses -- and that takes a lot of land for a reasonable number of rooms.

The existing POLY parking lot would be a possible site for DVC wings, with parking moved further away (using a corner of the MK parking lot; but that would mean that the parking would be awfully far away from guests with waterfront POLY rooms.

I already mentioned the possibility of the Luau area, but the long-running Luau dinner-show helps give the POLY its identity.

I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic about the need for land and the need to keep the charm and convenience of the current POLY deluxe resort intact.

In favor of a DVC component at the POLY, Disney Vacation Development management is undoubtedly aware that a DVC resort at the POLY would have huge demand.

I think there will be someday, but its a little ways off. As DVC per point prices continue to rise a DVC at the Poly will become more possible.

I see the guest self-parking getting relocated to where the cast member parking is across the street. Longhouses will probably get built on the self-parking area for DVC. Just a guess, but it could work. Get ready to pay a hefty price per point though.

after waiting 15 years for the KT @CR - would think at least that long before one at the Polyn.

a couple of years ago when the Polyn was having mold problems - that would have been a good time for a DVC resort - but no Disney spend a fortune rebuilding the Poln from the outside (only the outside was left) - that took much more money than doing what DVC does - tear it down and start over.

so don't think there will be one at the Polyn for a long, long time - if ever.

heck Disney still hasn't even annouced that the building will in fact be a DVC resort.

heard that if the new North wing - KT is a big success - then the south wing will be torn down but won't become a dvc - but a convention lodge with suites.

until it is build - some conventions may be booked at KT - now this is just a rumor - nothing solid to say it is a fact.

completely depends on how fast the KT will sell out. If it takes the 5 years that DVC plans on - then great. if not then the south wing may be coming alot sooner.

I think we'll see a small to medium sized free standing DVC Resort on the undeveloped POP property before we see one at the Poly. It really isn't a stretch, the infrastructure is there. If the existing buildings are in good enough shape, they could be repurposed to include a full service restaurant, as well the food court area. They wouldn't need to follow the original oversized theme of POP, they could subdue it and make it a turn of the century styled resort. Or even keep the "decades" styling in a much more upscale, less in your face, way.

The few unfinished hotel rooms could just be added to POP inventory, and the rest of the land could be re-designed in to DVC.
