Polynesian DVC starting in 2013 - How exciting!

They are convernting buildings?

Oh my, that's not a good sign IMHO! Those buildings are old, outdated etc... IMHO it's time to tear then down and start over, I don't see "conversion" as a plus. Hopefully they will change their mind and DVC will get new stuff.

And I agree with the above post. You get Poly DVC, you lose Poly pool hopping. You win some you lose some (Of course I also think one day that 'perk' will just disappear!)

I also don't think you will see CL. I think DVC realizes it was an error with AKV that's lead to complaining because "we sold it to you, but you have no luck using it" (My guide told me had heard a lot of complaints about this one) I don't think they will make that error twice. And since we didn't get it with VGF then....

I do think this will have the fixed week option however..
According to Tikiman, Tahiti will be converted, plus 2 new 5 story buildings, plus the 15 over the water huts.

The fixed week option seems like a no-brainer...it results in selling 10% more points than they "need"

Are you saying that AKL DVC members are complaining that they can't book CL rooms at 11 month window?

Yes it is so hard that owners are "walking" their reservations to be able to book right at 11 months.

Actually u make a very good point. I usually would never do a fixed week option but since I would want to stay in a water bungalow each time I went I think I will consider a fixed week option during food and wine festival season.

As an AKV owner, I have been tracking this. Very often even owners cannot get concierge 11 months out from date of arrival. With only 5 2BR lock-offs (possible 10 rooms total) and with owners able to book up to 7 nights from date of arrival, what I am seeing happening often at AKV is that days can be blocked out even before someone tries at exactly 11 months out; for example you can book today for time starting May 17, 2014 and May 17 to 20 are already gone for studios and 2BRs; meaning someone who intends to arrive May 18 and will be trying to reserve a studio tomorrow, June 18, is already blocked out. Moreover, even when a start date is available exactly 11 months out, I have seen it disappear before 8:05 a.m. in the morning exactly 11 months out.

Would LOVE to have few points here:thumbsup2 (hopefully 100 - the same as we have at BLT so that we can alternate between the two):thumbsup2

Especially excited if they end up having an Aulani type pool area - WOW!!:thumbsup2

In my opinion, the big lapse in all the DVC WDW properties is the lack of a state of the art pool area. They did it at Aulani. Now it's time to implement it at WDW. There were rumors that a DVC resort would be built near the old River Country, and that River Country would be revived as the water area.

DVD's business is selling timeshares, not building pools. If the projects sell without the cost of extras like a major pool that not everyone will use, then why spend the money?

Aulani is a co-located property away from a park with cash and DVC guests. They need to add the extras to make a mini park which helps keeping the place full.

Also, Aulani brings in locals for staycation weekends.

I don't think they want people to stay at the resorts either.... get us to the parks!

Yes and no. They DO want us to stay on-site. And an attractive water feature will help with that. On the other hand, perhaps they would see an Aulani type water feature as competing with the water parks.

:rotfl: reread my post.... that didn't come out right. Of course, they want us to stay on site, but not at the resorts all day!! :rotfl:

Oh, I got your point, sorry. I just meant that I have no doubt Disney has studies about how much money guests spend at the resorts, at the parks, at restaurants, etc. And they are expert at moving people to the most lucrative areas.
