Well I am getting ready to book our August 2013 trip. We are all set on the Poly and now I am reading about possible closures and refurbs. This is a complete deal breaker for my family (dh and dd's ages 9,8,7). Anyone have info on this? It will be our 2nd trip, 1st trip we stayed at the BC and loved it but the whole family agrees that we want to stay on the monorail at the Poly ahhhh,

Honestly, it helps to answer if you say where you read it; there are a lot of speculations about lots of things about any resort - there are sources that do nothing BUT speculate about Disney.

If you posted where you saw the info, it might help a bit to answer your question.

Are you referring to the room refurbs or something else?

Tiki knows about stuff involving the Poly sooner than just about anyone and usually before the permits are issued by the various government and county agencies.

Having said that.. even he'll admit it's been very fluid with stuff often being delayed. Usually, they close an entire longhouse.. work on that til it's done and move on to the next one.

If even that could be too much disruption for ya, I'd pick another resort.

I have another source I use which posts the building permits that have been filed.

They filed a permit back in September to refurbish all the building, with the exception of a few, and the current end date is listed as 12/30/13. It is for room refurbishments.

I'm referring to the pool being closed and the GCH...room refurbs are no biggie but if the pool is closed and there is construction all over the place it wouldn't be worth the $$$ for us to stay there

I'd say the work will definitely be going on during your trip visit and that may or may not impact the GCH during that time.

I'm not aware of any major pool construction.. there's annual maintenance.. but I don't think there's any major pool work due.

Regardless, with one or more buildings possibly being worked on during your dates, you might wanna try CR or GF?

Just room refurbs at this point and those you won't even notice. They do a building at a time and they close it completely so you won't be impacted by that. There are no major refurbs announced at this time. The pool is not scheduled for a refurb either, other than maybe the installation of a hot tub this fall but nothing confirmed about.

There was lots of speculation but all of that was just that and nothing green lit and maybe none of it will be done which is the current speculation.

Thanks for the information on refurbishments, we are staying at Poly next June. Looks like we'll be fine dealing with some building rehabs, as long as we have the pool for afternoon lounging!
