Polynesian Club Level in January 2013 - Any news?

I tried to make a reservation for a garden view club level room at the Polynesian at the end of January, but the website shows there is no availability in any club level rooms at Poly for our dates.

Then I tried to plug in other January dates - no availability. Then I tried to plug in our dates for club level at CR - no availability.

I initiated a live chat with one CM, and then called and spoke with another CM and both confirmed that there are no club level rooms available at Poly for the dates in January I requested (and I requested a few different dates) but neither of them knew why. The CM on the phone said that she's seen 2013 club level availability at Poly later in the year, so she knows that at least some dates are available.

Any news?

I noticed this too. I checked lots of random dates and no CL rooms showed available in January or February. I wonder what's up?

I wonder if this has something to do with the rumored refurb (and DVC addition) Tikiman and others have been speculating about.

The funny thing is, I wouldn't suspect that the Hawaii building would be affected by this or, at least, affected this soon (and even if it was, you'd think they'd find a way to at least temporarily move club level to another building).

At least I know it's not just me! I was wondering if it had anything to do with the refurb that Tikiman mentioned. But then the same thing is happening for CR, so I really hope it's just that they don't have them in the system yet!

Also, in the chat, the CM did say something about booking now and upgrading "when the CL rooms become available."

Thank goodness! I thought by some strange fluke it was all sold out already! I called today to book a room for my parents for January 7-13, CL Poly (because I'm the only one in the family who likes the planning lol) and was told the only CL room was a VP suite- just a little bit above budget! but that indicates that at least some CL rooms are in the system- unless that was a fluke as well! Seens odd that the suites would be available to book and not the other CL rooms- which makes me worry it might be closing for renovations- but then it seems dumb on Disney's part to close both the Poly and CR CLs at the same time!

Guess I'll just have to keep calling to see what happens!

I called to book club level at CR back in April for our early January trip (4-11) and there was no availability then! I thought there was no way this could be right. After calling back a few times over the next few weeks, I FINALLY got a CM who checked with guest services and came back on and told me both club level floors at CR were being refurbished during that time which is why I couldn't book. Since then, the news about California Grill came out that it would be closed during that time as well. Funny thing is, the CM mentioned there were rooms club level at the Poly for our time, but we booked a tower room at CR. So, I am not sure about Poly. I agree that it would be so strange to do both club levels at the same time!

Tikiman is reporting no CL for January through March. He hasn't confirmed it but he thinks this appears to be for room refurb in the Hawaii Building, which my contacts also believe it to be. The VP suites are not in Hawaii so they would still be available. The Poly has had several test rooms set up for a while and the refurb, if this is what is happening (and it does look like it), will also include changes to hallways and doors.

Thanks to everyone for the responses! In the end, sounds like it's not good news, but Polydweller, I really appreciate the information. I've been staying at Poly since the early 80's, but never CL. After all these years, when I finally decide to book CL, I can't! Oh well, we'll just have to look forward to CL at Poly during our next stay!
