Polyneisan rehab info

Thanks for the info, guys! I guess I will just have to wait until the beginning of the month to see the pictures. A few showed up of the honeymoon suite, which looked very nice from what I saw.

Tikiman,
Thanks! I agree it wouldn't make too much sense for just 3 people to pay that much to stay in the King K. We have 5, and I'm thinking about bringing my niece and nephew on the trip with us, so it will be perfect for us. It's always been a dream I've had to stay in the King K. I also want to stay in the Royal Assante at AK some day. Anyway, I love your site. Thanks for the great wealth of information.

Have a great time. I will try to get the photos uf the suites up soon. The King turned out awesome, well all of them look great.

Hey, Tikiman. First off, love the site. It's been so much fun to take a look at my Disney Home from my own residence.

On regaurds to rehab, what longhouses do you think will be done by next April, if any, if you had to guess?

Well this is nothing more than a guess but I would say that I would think Rapa Nui, Hawaii, Tahiti and Aotearoa might be done by next April. Maybe even add in Tokelau but the only ones on that list that are for sure would be Rapa Nui and Hawaii. The rest is based on old plans they had and old orders they were going to go in so who knows what the plan is now.

Aloha

Well 2 seconds after I leave this message I read my email and I got information that says that Rapa Nui is back open with the new rooms and Fiji might be next.

Okay from reading the previous posts is Hawaii getting the new room decor when it is closed for rennovation.

If they are closing the whole building and moving guests to other concierge resorts I wonder if they plan on redoing the look of the concierge lobby?

We are staying in Nov so I hope the plan does not change, but I would assume since guests have been moved and Hawaii is going to be closed i would hope the dates would not change. :confused3

They will be doing some things to the lounge and they are changing the desk area down on the first floor. What they are doing they are keeping secret.

COOL!! So Rapa Nui is all done? Or half done? That was pretty fast! I have a trip next week at the Poly and I requested Fiji. I just hope that the consturctions will not bother us in any way. If not... I don't mind staying in one of the new rooms at Rapa Nui!!! Thanks for the infos!!

That is exciting news, we have stayed GVC before and would love to see any changes. We love the Poly. Good news about Rapa Nui being open, the funny thing is people will probably request that building now when it has been avoided in the past. We stayed in Rapa Nui 2x and actually requested it because of the closeness to the parking lot and so close to the TTC. :earboy2:

They just said that building 11 (which is Rapa Nui) is back open so that means they are done. Fiji will be closed if they start work on it but I don’t know when.

UPDATE!! UPDATE!!

I just called the Polynesian directly... I talked to the lady from the front desk and she said that Rapa Nui is being renovated right now. They are working on the 3rd floor and the ground floor. She said that the bldg is open to the 2nd floor.

I asked her if it's possible if one of the rooms are ready that I can stay there. She said sure, as long as the room is available then there's no problem of us staying there, but she said that the noise might bother us.

I asked about Fiji and she said, as we speak they are not working on it. And she added that they are working on it quite rapidly. I will be checking in August 2 this Tuesday and it would be lovely if I can stay in one of the new rooms. But then, I don't know if I would want the noise!!

That must be why it is coming up in the system as open. Thanks for checking. Yeah Fiji is not closed yet, they just said that they were told it was next. If you get the room you will have to shoot a hundred photos for me!!! :)

We will be checking in to the Polynesian the same day as y'all! Please don't take our room :rotfl: Seriously though, hopefully we'll run into you there...your kids are too cute.

Just when I thought the planning was over, another option pops up. Do we request Rapa Nui to get a new room (and deal with the noise) or stick w/ our original choice :confused3 Oh well, we'll be happy anywhere...it is the Polynesian after all.

We are booked into Hawaii for Oct 27th-Nov 3rd and Im panicking that we will be "bumped". We particulary wanted a monorail resort as the kids are monorail mad, plus concierge as this is our one and only stay on property (we usually travel with grand parents and are a much bigger group, and stay off site).

Here in England rennovations run weeks over the scheduled times :) ...is it possible they will finish on the 14th Oct as predicted? If we are "bumped" will we know in advance or when we turn up? Will we have a choice of resorts at the same price, or will we have to add more $$$ if we move to the GF for instance??

Thanks for any help!

Allie

PS...one more question. I emailed the planning dept with my list of ADRs / tours etc a few days ago but havent heard anything - not even a "we have received your email" acknowledgement. Is this usual? Shall I call them?

Thanks.

Just curious, besides Rapa Nui, what other bldg will you be requesting. I am requesting Fiji, if not then Samoa. I suppose if we get the new room (crossing fingers) and the noise is really that loud and bothers us, then we will ask for a different bldg.

Same here... I hope we will bump into you!! Your daughter looks so cute!

Our first choice is (was?) Tokelau. We'll be traveling with my sister's family, so our main priority is (hoping to get) connecting rooms. I'm sure we'll run into y'all at some point, just look for our Hokie colors (maroon and orange)! I just finished packing the car, we're off to the airport in a few minutes :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Well I have some new news but you will have to wait until Thursday to read it on my web page when it is back up. Looks like there is going to be a lot going on this Summer and Fall at the Polynesian.

I am hoping to have a bunch of new photos up also of the resort, the new suites and of some of the “Friends of the Polynesian” who have sent me photos of their family at the Polynesian. Sorry I have not updated this sooner but things have been busy with the baby and getting ready for vacation in a few weeks.

Aloha

Hi Steve.......I didnt know your website was down. I thought those days were over and done with.

Well I have had some donations that helped pay for some added bandwidth but it still went over. I have not had the time to reduce some of the file sizes like I need to do. It took about 3 hours to do reduce the photos on one page.

I think it has only been down for a few days.
