I am already starting to think about taking our new baby girl for her first trip (probably won't be for awhile  )

We are now a family of 5 (the big brothers are 9 and 10). How would the Poly be with 5? If we go before she is 3...we would likely bring the portable pack n' play (is that allowed?)

Any other suggestions for a family of 5?

I loved the Poly from our first trip and I like that it's right on the monorail...

A baby doesn't count as a fifth person at any Disney resort, so you are OK with that. :) And even after she gets older you are still safe at the Poly because they allow families of 5.

All of the resorts offer pack-n-plays for free so you don't have to worry about bringing one from home. :)

I have heard "under 2" but then I've also heard "2 and under". I'd say you're safe until she's 3, then that's the magic number when she counts as a person in the room, needs a park ticket, and has to pay at the buffets. :)

I think the Polynesian still has hotel size cribs, too. I always liked those better.

We're a family of 5 that has stayed at the Polynesian many, many times. It is great for 5....plenty of room.

We actually stayed at the Poly with 6 of us. It was leagal because we stayed there when my twins were under 3. They did provide us with a porta crib.

Kids don't count until they are 3.

Does the poly have pack n plays or the metal cribs that the Contemporary has? Does any one know this?

Disfreek, our youngest is 19 which is why I hedged my comment. However on a very recent trip, I did see a crib in the hallway.

We are going to the Poly SOON... :cool1: and I had specifically asked what kind of crib would be offered and I was told it was a pack n play. I am bringing my own. I would prefer a metal type crib, I know that can be cleaned (even by me), pack n plays w/ all that fabric?? yuck. I can't see how that can be properly cleaned. Although the sheets can be changed...what about when they hang on the edge and teethe on the crib sides? Anyway like I said, they told me pack n play, so we are bringing our own.
We are a family of 5- 9 and 5 boys and a princess: who is 2. The deluxe resorts fit a family of 5 nicely and under 3 yrs is free everywhere! We are enjoying this last rop w/ our princess: after this she will have to pay her own way!! :rotfl2:

Enjoy!

Glencoe, I always felt the same way about pack and plays.

If it was Disney Reservation Center who told you that, I would take it with a grain of salt. Pack and plays are certainly the norm in WDW hotels in fact there is already one in the rooms at some hotels sometimes. If you want to make sure, I would call the resort directly and to be even more certain, ask to speak to housekeeping. I don't remember which trip I saw the crib but I'm almost certain that it was one of our trips within the last year.

Most resorts do have the metal cribs, but they have very, very few and they are first come first served. What Iunderstand is that as they are "wearing out" WDW is not replacing them, and gradually switching over to all pack and plays.

There's a company that rents baby supplies, I'm sure someone can post the info, that might also be an option. Not sure how well a Pack N Play is going to work for a three year old, that's a tight fit and very easy to tip while they try to climb out.

The Polynesian rooms all offer a day bed, they are fairly low to the ground or you could just pull the mattress off onto the floor...IMHO that might be a better option for you.

We stayed at the Poly last May. We stayed in two different rooms and both times the crib we were given had wooden rails.

We are a family of 5 staying at the poly in July. My youngest is 2 years old she will be 2 1/2 when we go. So when she is over 3 where do we stay at then? I mean I don't know if I would get 2 rooms because my oldest is only 9.

You will still be able to stay at the Polynesian when she turns 3 as room occupancy there is 5 plus a child under 3 in a crib.

This is also true at CR, Y&BC, BWI and GF. the cabins at FW hold 6 plus a baby.

So when she turns 4 I will have to either get 2 rooms at the Poly or stay somewhere else?

No if she is the fifth person in your family, you will be fine. If she is the sixth, then you would have to get another room or stay in a cabin (occupancy 6) or a DVC 2 bedroom (occupancy 8).

But you would have to do so as soon as she turned 3. It is under 3 (or 2 and younger).

But I thought you said you are a family of 5?

Actually it's when they become 3.

Yeah we are a family of 5.
My husband, I, dd 9, dd 6, dd 2

I was just wondering a couple of years from now if we go back to disney could we stay at the poly in one room.

One room, 2 beds, one day bed, you will be fine. Occupany for these rooms is 5. You can have 6 if one occupant is under 3 years. Familes of 5 can stay at any deluxe resort that offers 2 beds and one day bed. Some Yacht and Beach Club rooms do not have them so if you ever stay there make sure they know you have 3 children.

Thank you for clearing it up for me. :) For some reason I was a little slow at understanding. Long day working.
