Poly vs WL

I originally wanted to stay at the Poly since it has the mono rail and we could see the fireworks at night from our room. I have kids 3 & 5 and wanted to be close to the MK. But the discounted rates, although good at 276/ni for a lagoon view is $100 more a night than the WL courtyard view. For our 5 night stay that is $500 more. Is it worth it?

I've stayed at both resorts, and they are my two favorite places to stay. The poly is unique and gorgeous, a true disney hotel. It is nice being one stop away from the MK by monorail. BUT, the WL is probably my #1. The atmosphere of the WL can't be beat, and it's a short boat ride away from the MK. The boat can actually be more enjoyable than the mono at times. You feel the breeze as you go, and you never have to stand. Plus, the boat only takes about 5 - 10 minutes to get there. You might spend this time waiting for the mono, and at the GF (the stop before the MK) So to me, it's definitely worth staying at WL and saving the $500. AND you can see MK fireworks if you have a woods view on the MK side of the WL. Not as good of a view as the Poly, but you can still see them!

Well, I haven't stayed at WL and I'm very biased toward the Poly but I would stay there. Perhaps in a gardenview room if the rate is lots better. The rooms are much bigger than WL, transportation is much better, and it is so very relaxing. If you enjoy boat rides, and like Andrew we do, you can take the resort launch to the MK...about a five minute ride. You can also walk to the TTC and take the MK ferry...3-10 minute walk depending on your building. From the TTC you can also catch the Epcot monorail. The WL has devoted fans, too, though. Oh, and you are also a monorail ride away from all the restaurants of GF and CR. 24 hour snack bar is a plus, too, since I like hot tea nice and early.
