Maybe elaborate on what you expect. It was refurbished in 2006. It is on the monorail. It has the second largest average room size after the GF (excluding DVCs). The only consistent slam I've read on the boards against the Poly (by deluxe resort guests) is that it is a series of unconnected buildings (longhouses) as opposed to one big block of a hotel - some did not like having to walk outdoors when accessing the lobby. I first stayed there as a child in 1972 and it remains my first choice of hotel at WDW.
I recently stayed at the Poly and loved it. The ambiance is wonderful. All the CMs were incredibly friendly. The location cannot be beat. It's very nice to not have to transfer monorails if you want to go to Epcot. You can instead walk the short distance to the TTA and hop on the Epcot monorail. We will definitely be staying at the Poly again the next time we head to WDW.
We love the Poly. I've told my kids I want to stay at the Grand Floridian one day, and they plus DH refuse to budge from the Poly.
The theming is fun in a totally Disney sort of way. The new rooms are beautiful. Transportation is easy with the resort monorail and Epcot monorail both within walking distance--something no other resort has. The dining is good. It's just a great place.
I've stayed at several of the deluxe and DVC resorts, and the Poly is definately one of my favorites. The rooms, the pool, the restaurants, the transportation options, everything about this resort was wonderful.
I've stayed at the G.Floridian, Contemporay & the Poly. We were upgraded to a lagoon view at Poly, only had garden views at other 2. Plus my family & I are Hawaii freaks, so POLY is my favorite. Note: kid's loved Poly pool.
Yep the cost is high, I can actually go to Hawaii for about the same$, only
difference is 2hr vs 8hr flight. Can't imagine my grandkids on long flight, so I compromised & talked hubby into POLY resort.
