Poly vs BC - we choose BC...

Spent 4 nights at the Poly and 9 at the BC (purely because of Christmas week pricing or I would have split it evenly). Although we really liked the Poly, had a great room, huge, overlooking the quiet pool with a side view of the castle and loved watching the fireworks from the beach, BC wins hands down. Love being able to walk to Epcot, short, regular boat service to MGM, Boardwalk, theming, fabulous huge sand bottomed pool, activities at pool, hot tubs, great side view of lake from room. Downside was a smaller room, tiny balcony, no food court. Now, if they could combine the best of both... you would never get us to come home...

I agree completely. I stayed at the Poly last April with DS and my Grandkids. I loved it. The new rooms are beautiful and large. The grounds are gorgeous, and the convenience of the Monorail to the MK and to EC was great. I loved it.
But the Epcot Resorts area wins hands down in my mind. I love being so close to Epcot and the ability to also walk or boat to MGM. SAB is the ultimate pool and I love the themeing.
Given a choice I would choose the BC every time.

Do you really notice the room size difference? Just curious, I have considered the Beach Club myself, but we stuck with the Poly for the view of MK and room size.

We are HUGE BC/YC fans.... I can't convince my DH to even try another resort because he'd stay home :rotfl: :rotfl: The ambience of the resorts is just wonderful combined with the proximity of Epcot.... Stormalong Bay is amazing.... just overall 2 amazing resorts!!!! :)

We choose the BC too. That has been one of our favorite resorts of all time. We just love it!!

Our 2 favorite resorts -- BC and Poly! We love each for all the reasons you mentioned. But BC is our favorite out of the 2. To us, we find it more relaxing because we love lounging at the sandy pool with our little ones and then walking to Epcot for a nice dinner and some rides/shows/Illuminations and then being able to just walk back to BC afterward. Then to sit by the pool with ice cream from Beaches and Cream. Or else a movie on the beach. Or else walk to the boardwalk for a snack and some fun. Or else rent a surrey bike to ride around the beautiful lake and boardwalk. It's just SO amazing with so many things to do that are non-park things. Sometimes we briefly forget we're even in Disney. It's like a vacation within a vacation to us when we stay at BC.

As far as someone's question about room size, we do notice that Poly is bigger. We are a family of 4 with a double stroller and have plenty of room in Poly, while BC is a nice size but we have noticeably less room. However, that obviously is not enough of a factor to sway us away from BC.

Absolutely - no question. Since our kids are getting older, 10 and 13 we now take up more space so really noticed it. The kids even said the day bed was smaller at BC and didn't want to sleep on it. Since we just bought into DVC though we will be staying in the villas from now on. Do love the BC though... glad we had the holiday broke down the way we did. Did MK from the Poly and MVMCP then the rest of the parks from BC.

I'm happy to read such good reports of the BC, as that's where we will be staying on our next trip.

We usually stay at the Poly, but we're going for the Food & Wine Fest, plus it will be warm enough to use SaB.

I agree with you, we did a split stay, 4 days YC first then 4 days Poly. We liked the Poly but LOVED the YC, the location to Epcot was great, the resort was so much quieter that the Poly, nice quiet pool and hot tub area. The Poly was a crazy mad house from the minute we checked in until we left.
