My DD14 will not ride on the Monorail. She has Fragile X - something about the monorail disagrees with her - it might be the speed or the height. Last trip we tried to get from the Poly to the MK for the morning EMH - we were told at the front desk that the boat would be running. After waiting 15 min - no boat, later a boat operator said the boats only run at the official opening time. Aside from the Monorail, there appeared to be no other way to go. In preparation for our next trip - do the buses run from the Poly that early (or at all?). As a last resort, I can drop her and the rest of my party off at the Contemporary walkway and then I can take the monorail myself. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm not sure what time the boats start running and I was not aware there are any buses that go from Poly to the MK.
You might want to ask on the Resort or Transportation Board. Another suggestion would be to contact a DIS Board poster named Tikiman. He had a great website about the Polynesian and could probably answer your questions.

The small boat as well as the ferry do not run until the regular opening time. I had asked if they ran early and was told that they did by the front desk at the Poly - however I could see that the ferry did not run and we ended up waiting 60 min until the first small boat arrived. By the time we got to MK, the EMH had past. I will drop Tikiman a note - thanks.

I’ve never tried this myself, but could you take a taxi from the Poly to the MK? If not, maybe you could get a taxi from the Poly to the Contemporary and walk over. Hope everything works out ok. Good luck.

I will have my car there - we are taking the autotrain - so it seems the best solution is to drop everyone off at the Contemporary, I'll go back to the Poly and then take the monorail. I would be curious to know where a cab would drop you off if asked to go the the MK - can they go to where the buses drop off or just to the TTC?

I'm almost positive that the bus area has a sign that says "buses only". I think that the taxis drop you off at the TTC. Or, as was already mentioned, you could take a taxi to Contemporary and walk over from there.

I thought of another poster you could try. Chip 'n Dale Express works at one of the resorts (I think Pop Century), but had worked in transportation before.

I wasn't sure when I posted that yesterday, but after a lot of thought, I am sure you are right. The best a taxi could do would be the Contemporary. I just figured a taxi from the Poly to the Contemporary may not cost a whole lot due to the short distance and might be worth it to the OP not to have to go through all of that trouble driving and re-parking, especially if her daughter has waiting issues.

how about staying somewhere else?

the Polyn is great - but alot of that greatest is the monrail.

does she have problems with buses?

I would change resort.

OKW has bus transportation only. big rooms and a studio is much less expensive than a Polyn room. You could probably get a 2-bedroom for what you are paying for the Polyn.

I feel your pain... my niece had a problem with boats - but she didn't tell me until after I booked them at the BC...... :rotfl: :artist: :rolleyes1

live and learn. :moped:
