Poly theme park view worth it?

We are planning on 7 nights at the Poly...which is really expensive as it is, and that's just for the garden view. The theme park view is another $1,100+ more! I would totally pay for the theme park view at CR because of the awesome view, but the Poly seems too far away to really make it worth the price difference.

SO, prove me wrong! Did you get a theme park view and love it? Pictures? Reasons? Would you do it again or did you regret it?

I'm thinking it's going to take a lot to convince me that it's worth all that extra $$$, but I figured I'd ask just to make sure I wasn't missing something! :teacher:

TIA!

DH and I just spent 11 nights at the Poly last December...theme park view, dining plan... the whole shabang....NOT worth the extra money... the room was just like any other room, captain Cooks- like any other Q S.... and the buses were so over crowded that it was to the point of frustation (all going to the ticket and transportation center). As for the fireworks at night which really is the only bonus, half the time we were in bed already... the castle is so far away you can only see the top of it. You will see lots of posts that say how wonderful it is, that was what made my decision to go there... but from past experience...Not worth the extra money... take the money and do something else extra... sorry to burst anyones bubble over this, but I wish people had been truthful with me.

We have stayed at the Poly many times - always garden view. I just can't justify the additional $$$$ for a view. That said, we do ALWAYS spring for Concierge. You have the sought after view 24/7 from the lounge, or if you want to you can step out of the Hawaii longhouse onto the beach for your view.

Concierge is definitely worth it for us, and I always hope for a magical upgrade to lagoon or theme park view..... but so far no luck. Maybe someday!! :)

Good luck with your decision!

We walked around the Poly on our trip last week, and I can't see how anyone would pay for a TPV room there. There seemed to be 1 building that had a decent view of the castle, but that was it. It looked to us like there were a lot of "ok" TPV rooms there and not a lot of great ones.

We paid extra for TPV at CR and it was worth every penny, but I don't know how people justify it at the Poly.

I agree with others, we did garden view (Fiji looking at the sailboats in the marina, awesome view by the way), and are SO glad we did not pay more for an upgraded view. We just walked the 45seconds and sat on the beach and watched the fireworks.

I'd say save your money or use it to book a fireworks cruise!

You will have a great view of the fireworks from the beach. I disagree with pp.The poly is a great place for wishes. We aways book a gv. We don't sit in our room enough to enjoy a view. We sit at the pool where the view is awesome. If I was going to spend an extra 1,100 I would go with Club level over a view.

Is it worth it? Yes, yes, yes! We've stayed Club Level Theme Park View the last 2 years and I'm booking the same thing for this year! It's so magical to be able to stay in your room (in your pjs if you want!) and watch the Electrical Parade and Fireworks from your balcony! We leave the curtains open after the fireworks and love to watch the castle changing colors all night. There's just no where else that you can do that! When we check in, the first thing my DS does is check out the view. It's breathtaking! I get up extra early in the morning and love to have my coffee and just look across the water to see the park. It's our yearly splurge, and worth every penny! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

I totally agree with this :thumbsup2. We aren't ones to pay for views and we've only stayed at the Poly once in a GV. With that said, the beach is an awesome place to watch the fireworks. For the extra cost of a TPV, I would spend that on CL like the above poster. We would get alot more out of the lounge and offerings than a view ;).

I am also a biggggggg fan of Wishes from the white sand beaches of the Poly. We stayed last time at BLT and while watching the fireworks all I could think of is this would be so much better at Poly. I wouldn't pay for the room view when you can go out and enjoy the view of Wishes at no extra cost and then return to my garden view room.

Personally, just the regular rates at the Poly are ridiclous...paying more for a view or CL is beyond .....I don't know what the draw is, and we've stayed at the Poly many years ago, but their prices have gone out of sight, that is for us....

Hey, we like deluxe, but don't want to rob a bank to have a vacation....plenty of resorts on property to choose from....we get what we want from WL, a deluxe but not at the rates the monorail resort cost.

We've been happy with the views we book...rarely pay for the higher view and have been happy. We don't sit in the room and look out the slider....when we're up, we're either at a park, shopping or at the pool....1100.00 for a gawk out the window now and then...I couldn't do it....I'd stay longer with that savings....do as you may but we frequent WDW alot but if we took those kinds of up grades, we wouldn't be going as often....

In my personal opinion to be considered a Theme Park View it needs to be of the whole Magic Kingdom like at the Contemporary. So I wouldn't spend extra for what the Polynesian calls their Theme Park View since it's just of Cinderella's Castle and the fact it's so far away off in the distance.

We stayed at the Poly nearly every year when I was a child. One time we stayed at with a TPV, and it is the only room I remember, because I could watch the EWP and fireworks in my nightgown from the balcony. It's one of the best childhood Disney memories I have.

I have stayed at Wl,Poly,Bc and BW. There is a reason Wl is less money. Not saying disney prices aren't ridiculous. Comparing Wl to Poly is not really a fare comparison.

Last time we stayed we got a free upgrade to a castleview room and it was lovely -- my younger son could lie in bed at night and watch the fireworks while drifting off to sleep. But I would not pay extra for it.

Yes! We visit during winter and spring months and we can leave the windows open at night. We love to see the castle from the Poly and hear the sounds of boats and train whistle and often music from MK night parades. Waking up to a castle view is so special.

The view at CR is better, but the constant noise of buses gets old. They accelerate coming up from under the water bridge and then brake as they curve towards MK.

We've stayed TPV at GF once, and we enjoyed the views and sounds. From our main building room we could see the fireworks but not the electrical parade.

Usually I'm very frugal and always on the lookout for a bargain. When it comes to WDW resorts, though, I happily spend the $$$ for a them park view.

having stayed Club Level at GF and Poly, and both of those having TPV rooms, I would say that I wouldn't do it at the Poly. It's just too far away. The GF is at least close enough you can somewhat enjoy it, but for me, the Poly isn't worth it.

If the money was available in the budget, I would rather stay Club Level than pay for the room view. In fact, this IS what we're doing :) As others have pointed out, that view is available right outside the Hawaii building or in the lounge.

As for not paying those rates, I agree that they are way out of wack with regular hotels! However, as a family of 5, our options are limited and a room at WL to accommodate us would be significantly more than a CL room at the Poly or CR.
I really like the Poly's location and transportation options for our young kids. Hopefully we'll have a smooth vacation and all will be working as intended!

This is always a matter of personal preference and what economists call opportunity costs. We have stayed both GV and TPV/lagoon view. To be honest we loved both. They are very different experiences IMO. The price difference is substantial - would you consider a spilt stay at the Poly to experience both?

We stayed TPV when our children were 6 and 3 and I totally agree that there was something very special about getting into pjs and watching the water parade and Wishes from your own room. We did the same thing and left our curtains open late at night and watched the castle change colors and in the early morning, I'd sneak out and have my cup of coffee sitting on my patio, watching the Magic Kingdom stir to life while the children slept. It is beyond magical to experience that just once.

Having said that, we have now evolved to other resorts and other experiences. I never regret the money we spent for those special trips because the girls still talk about it. Maybe that is something to consider just once.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The view from the lounge is great, the TPV is not worth it but the CL is. Go GV for Poly CL! We've done TPV, TPV CL and GV CL and now we always choose GV CL. Anything else is not worth it in our opinion.
