Poly Standard view rooms

Thank you for all of the replies!!

I’ve also heard the Fiji side facing the GF is standard view. Is that accurate?
I keep thinking that there are so few standard rooms, that people who booked standard might end up in a room that is technically “pool/marina”.

Rumor says Luau side Fiji is still standard.

There really are a good number of Standard units left. Poly always had one of the largest quantity among the deluxe resorts.

I couldn’t see the marina only the quite pool and the castle .

Oh, yes. Sorry for the confusion. We also had a view of the quiet pool (it was so nice!). At that point, it was standard view. I'm assuming those rooms are now in the "Pool or Marina View" category. I'm just assuming any room that can see any type of water at this point is pool or marina!

I would "assume" it's still standard. We stayed Fiji, luau cove side, first floor about two years ago and there is no direct view of water (it's more of a view of the luau cove beach). We would walk out of our patio each night to sit on the beach and see the fireworks (which was awesome). If you can handle hearing the luau until about 10 pm on show nights, this is an awesome place to stay.

I actually think there are probably still a ton of standard view rooms - half of Rarotonga, Niue, half of Tuvalu, probably half of Fiji and half of Tokelau. That's just an assumption.

There really are no terrible view rooms at the Poly.

Well.......the view we had from our room in Tokelau directly faced the side of the longhouse next to ours. Who wants to sit on their balcony looking at the side of a building? Not me.

Tokelau was not DVC when we stayed there. Was just responding to the claim that "there are no terrible view rooms at Poly." Because there are.

The ones I think would be really bad are Tuvalu that face the end of Fiji.

Absolutely. Those rooms would be even closer to the end of the Fiji building than ours at Tokelau was to the end of (what is now) Moorea. When we were taken to our room, the bellman made a big deal of going to the windows and opening the drapes.....to show the back end of a brown building right in front of us. Ugh!

Yep. That is the handful of truly meh views.

In general, if you book Standard Views at any of the resorts, you shouldn't expect the most awe-inspiring view, regardless of "I paid so much." Disney deluxe pricing is not really indicative of expectations in the real world, and in a place with views that go Standard, Pool/Water, Lagoon, and TPV, you have to have some tempered expectations about Standard. Could be a laundry chute, could be a tree.

so when the discounts came out for June, we were able to change views from Standard, to pool/marina view. We also saved a chunk of change, but that is a different thread. Has anyone been recently and stayed in a "pool/marina" view room that could share their thoughts? We are really hoping for 3rd floor of Samoa facing the volcano pool.

We stayed 3rd floor volcano view Samoa before they changed room classification. We had the end room near. Niue. It was awesome.

we want the room closest to the lagoon side. i am going to call and submit my request and see what happens. Right now trying to go online and do it gives me nothing in the drop downs for room request.
