DH and I just went last week. I requested Fiji, 3rd floor. Our room number was 3320. We faced the marina and it was the BEST view! We could see Space Mountain, the Contempory and at night watch the Electric Water Parade from our balcony. That was a GV room.

Well, we had such an amazing time there (just DH and myself) that we decided we wanted to go back. So we change our Sept. ressies. Now instead of 10 nights at POR we are staying, 4 nights at POR and 6 nights at the Poly. So I'm wondering...would Samoa be better for us, you know with the kids. Being THAT close to both pools would be great. Plus Tikimans site says that the Volcano side rooms have some views of the lagoon.

So my point is this: Have you stayed in Samoa - volcano side - what was your view and what floor? How was the pool noise? One of the things we loved most about the Poly is how quiet it was, so that is important to us.

Also, where in Fiji have you stayed and how/what was your view? We had the BEST view, but I certainly doubt we'd get the same area on the 3rd floor again. Plus I just like trying new things.

To me, the room location and view are SO important. We plan on spending a lot of time at the resort, you know a real vacation where you actually rest. lol!

Also, the distance from Fiji is so close to the pool that I'm not fretting about that. But with the kids closer might be even a better perk, but it's just the noise and traffic I worry about...and views. LOL!

So tell me how it was for you?

TIA :sunny:

What, no one has an opinion on Samoa? I can't believe you guys have made me commit a DIS sin.

Bumping my own thread.

Shameless

I've stayed in Samoa twice, once on the first floor and once on the third. Both times we faced the Volcano pool. We love that location. It's central to just about everything. We never had any problems with noise from the pool. But then, when we get in the room, it's pretty much to sleep. A little noise from the pool isn't going to keep us from slumbering deeply after long days in the parks. We love Samoa. Hope this helps.

I prefer the location of Samoa over Fiji. Not that Fiji is not nice but I myself would rather be in the Samoa location.

I stayed in Tuvalu next to Fiji and the one thing that sticks in my mind was when I wanted to have a quick dip in the pool or wanted to go to the boat to the MK I had to walk around the marina. Every time I wanted to just jump across. When I am over in Hawaii (next to Samoa) I feel like that area is the best location for me. Our friends stayed in a ground level room on the volcano side and we would stop by their room or go over to their room from the pool and I loved the location. They even use to sit on their patio and the kids would run over to the pool.

I know many love Fiji and it is a great choice but I would pick Samoa every time over Fiji. Either way you should have a nice view. Fiji does have slightly better views of the lagoon but for me it would not be enough for the location difference. Many do prefer Fiji location so it all comes down to your own preference.

Yep, we are the friends Tikiman is mentioning and Samoa is GREAT with the kids. Dare I say I actually preferred Samoa 1st Floor Volcano side, over the LV concierge.

I don’t think the tikigods will be upset if you say that. After all you can’t walk to the pool from your patio at Hawaii LVC unless you like leaving your door unlocked and not be able to see if from the pool. On the other hand you do give up seeing the fireworks from your room but you can see those from the pool since the kids never seem to want to come out of the pool ;)

 We were there last week too! Did you see us??

We were in Fiji first floor cove side, this is our favorite side. I love sitting out on the patio and watching the monorail go by and seeing the GF, and seeing that small speck of water you almost get the feeling you are lagoon view :rotfl: . Anyway...I love Fiji over Samoa... JMHO if you know what I mean, imagine if everyone loved Samoa, you would never get a room in that building! :lmao: And same for Fiji

Everytime I look over at Samoa volcano side I am glad I am not there, maybe the other side would be better, I like the calmness over at Fiji. Samoa seems to have a lot of action going on in front of it morning till late at night. The location can't be beat over at Samoa, talking about being in the center of everything. :)

We have stayed in Samoa twice. Third floor, quiet pool view both times. In fact, we stayed in rooms next door to each other; I cannot remember the room numbers but they were at the very end of the building closest to the GCH. I love the location. I haven't stayed in Fiji, so I can't compare, but the location of Samoa rocks! We didn't have any bothersome noise from the pool area even though one of our stays was when the volcano pool was under construction.

Thanks everyone!

Anyone else?

Come on, I know there HAS to be more of you.

Anyone have any pictures of your view to share?

Please? :sunny:
