Poly - Concierge

Well we're back and looking forward to our next vacation.

I think I'll take it from the top and try to list some of our experiences with the Poly.
1. Check-in - arrived around 8am, pulled into valet parking we were greeted by smiling faces and asked our name, seconds later they said our room was ready.(already off to a great start)
2. They took us down to Hawaii(conceirge) where we were greeted and told we should check out our room and have breakfast in the lounge, and then come down and check in, (it could have ended there and we were all impressed)
3. We were taken to our room and told we have a refrig. and trays, if there is anything in the lounge you want you could bring it back to your room and enjoy. Also told we should stock our refrig with sodas from the lounge.
4. The Room - Well I could not have hand picked a better room myself. A perfect room (3505) Sitting on the balcony either in the morning or late at night(with a cigar and a drink) and just enjoying the view- the castle straight ahead, dead center if you will, a more perfect view I can't imagine, do I need to go on.
Actually I believe all the rooms on the third floor have that same great view, except for maybe 3508 there might be a palm tree that partially blocks that view.
5. Maids were very good, they always kept the room looking great, maybe alittle to good. They would always ask if we needed extra towels when I passed them in the hall and I believe they had my kids looking forward to the turndown service(Disney chocolates, there were always extras)
6. Lounge - Offerings were good, and never out of anything, if something wasn't there all you had to do was ask( meaning caff.free sodas, etc.) Always very accommodating. They always had an extreme amount of food out.
7.Everyone was extremely helpful and alway greeting with a nice Aloha. The CM's were some of the most friendly I have ever experienced and I personally was very impressed with every aspect of the entire Polynesian.
8. Overall we had a great experience and a wonderful time together. There is nothing better then spending some precious quality time with my family, and spending it at Disney always seems that much more perfect. Tell me what could be more perfect then the family walks around the complex at night. My Son and I, with his late night monorail rides around the loop, with only the 2 of us on it. Or just sitting on the balcony enjoying the fireworks over the castle
Polynesian, what can I say, it's the Best!
I would like to thank everyone for all your help in making our Disney vacation a Magical experience.
Tikiman - you and your website are invaluable to these boards, we much appreciate all the info. One more thing Steve everything you said is true. it is a Great place and my wife and kids already told me this is where they want to go every year in the winter.(so I know they were impressed)
Well I guess I'll start planning our next Disney vacation.
Thanks again to all -you people are the GREATEST!

I'm glad you had a wonderful time!!!!!! The Poly is on my must do list!!!!

I am happy for you...that your stay was wonderful! The Poly has been getting some bad reports from people, and it had me worried a bit! Just a question though! Did you have concierge make your PSs for you?and did they do a good job(do you get all the restaurants you asks for)?

Great report. Glad you enjoyed your stay so much. It is a truly magical resort isn't it? 59 days and we'll be back in Hawaii! I'll read your report several times in the next few days to help tide me over!:sunny:

I'm so glad you loved the Poly. We think it's a little piece of Heaven right here on earth!

Debbie

As I sit here watching the pouring snow, I can't wait for first trip to the Poly in just 15 days. I enjoyed your report. Although we won't be in concierge, I'm happy to hear how wonderful the CM's are.

Thanks Waltsfan for such a great review! I am so glad you had such a good experience. We are thinking of trying Poly concierge in October of this year...you may have just swayed me into spending the extra money. ;)

I'm so glad you had a wonderful stay at the Poly. It's our most favorite place in the whole world outside of our BCV. We feel like we have a little bit of Heaven when we're there too.

AspiringCindy,

Conceirge did make some of the reservations and they did get the timeframe that I had asked, although I always gave about a 2 hour window. They also picked up my tickets to the luau for us and delivered them to me.

Here is a couple of extras I did not get to mention earlier, but also extremely generous on the resorts part. We celebrated our 20th anniversary while at the Poly and around 6pm a knock on the door, a maid with a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and a rose, very nice, but not at all expected.
This place just epitomizes class and I would not hesitate to stay here again and again. The 1st day we were here I had to call back home just to tell someone how awesome the view was from the balcony. That is how passionate I became over this place. We will be back next Jan. again it was that awesome for us.

Any other questions I will be happy to address...

Welcome back! We had the same room you did a few years ago, doesn't have the most awesome view?!?! I really loved it! Glad you had a great stay!

Was thrilled to see you had such a great experience as we will be there in April. Could you tell me if you had a garden view or lagoon view? Thanks.

I am glad you had such a great trip. We also love the Polynesian. We returned from Polynesian concierge a week ago. We had that same amazing view but from the first floor. We love to lie in bed at night and watch the castle change colors. We even wake up throughout the night and sit up to see the castle. We love everything about the resort from the tiki torches to the smells to the cast members.

It is nice to hear other great reports about our favorite resort.

We will be there in April and can't wait. Do you think (since it is Easter and probably full in concierge) that there will be less attention to the guests? Will the food still be as ample? I have read here that when it is very busy, things are not kept up as well. Does anyone have first hand experience for times that the resort is full?
I just want to be prepared.;)

Thanks for your report on the Poly. I can't wait to go either! reading your info just made me realize that is the place I want to stay. I have also read bad reports on it but I have a LV ressie and I want to be able to wake up and watch the castle change colors too.........omg I can't wait! Oh and Happy Anniversary too!

Thanks for such a wonderful concierge report on the Poly!

We've done the Poly concierge three times, and I want to do more!

Makes me wanna change my ressies!:earseek:

Really, it's nice to hear another DISer have such a great time with his family at WDW!

Stick around the boards and plan your next trip here, too!;)

Deb147,

We stayed in the conceirge building which is Hawaii and our room was LV.(Awesome view of the castle).

One more thing while I think of it. I had parked valet from the first day till the last and was never charged. This was a great perk, although I do recall people writing they were charged. Well maybe I must have tipped the right people.
Sorry for going on but as I think of these things I feel it is important that I inform everyone.
I think what made it so great was I expected nothing extra(just being there with my family would been enough fo me), but they went well above and beyond. Hopefully everyone gets some of the Magic that was bestowed upon us.

Bumped!!!!!

I recently saw some Poly questions about concierge, so I decided to push this report back up...Hope it helps.

We had a lagoon view room when we stayed at the Poly and could watch the castle change colors from our beds! The kids fell asleep to the electric light parade, talk about magical. To wake up in the night and see the castle was heavenly!

My first stay at WDW was at Fort Wilderness in 1972. Since then, I've stayed at Fort Wilderness several times, the Caribbean Beach, the Wilderness Lodge, the Contemporary and the Polynesian "Village" several times. Of all of these, the Polynesian is, by far, my favorite. In fact, it's where my wife and I spent our honeymoon in '88.
Now that our kids are "old enough to enjoy & remember", we're heading back in June (after a 6-1/2 year absence). Of course, after being gone so long, there's no other "choice" for our accomodations but the Polynesian.
I notice that all of the building names have changed since we've last been......as has the main pool (drasitcally), for the better I might add. The "water-sprites" have changed from yellow/black to white/blue and are now called a "water-mouse". The "Tropical Luau" is now "Spirit of Aloha". "News From Civilization" is now "News From Polynesia". The "Papeete Bay Verandah" is now "'Ohanas". The "Coral Isle Cafe" is now the "Kona Cafe". The rooms now have ceiling fans and canopied beds. SOOOOO many changes......I might not even recognize the place.

So, can someone tell me how to add the countdown timer (till my next Disney visit) to the bottom of my message......like I see in some of your posts?

Click here for a countdown timer!

And you can test it on the Test Board!
