Poly questions...

Tikiman, Don't leave!! You are one of the few DIS's that doesn't get nasty. I know it must be hard when people rip onyou while you are trying to give advice, but believe me...we all know who and what they are. I think it's sad that people use this wonderful forum for personal purging of aggression as opposed to obtaining information or giving advice. Believe me, you would be sorely missed by the counts of us too scared to post. I will now accept my flogging.

We love the launches but which is faster varies. They often have only two boats running and at times only one. We've had part of our family take the monorail and others "race" them on the boat and it does vary. You do have to wait for a boat just as you do for a monorail.

I think a lot of guests at the Poly forget about the ferry. The entrance is very close to the Polynesian especially the newer buildings and I think it is the fastest of all in terms of transport time.

We stayed in Roratonga also. It has a great location for the laundry, quiet pool, and Neverland Club as well as convenience to Captain Cook's. The boat dock is also handy. We originally requested another building (can't remember which) but was so happy with Roratonga. While our kids were in Neverland Club, DH and I sat out on our patio (1st fl) and enjoyed seeing the beautiful plants and the monorail zipping by, not to mention the torches.

I have personally been avoiding Tikiman's site for fear it will bring me to tears!

I have a suggestion for Skiwee. How about requesting a first floor room next time. We just returned from a great visit to the Poly. Our son has asthma so we requested first floor since we figured if someone did smoke on their balcony, the smoke would rise. We were never bothered by smoke, however, someone must have kept their cooler outside and we were bothered by the dripping water. Also, if you have a first floor room, your child could easily play in the grass outside the room. I loved our location in Tokelau and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Thanks for the great suggestion Diane. I had thought of that but was afraid that my DD would disappear in all that beautiful foilage! At least on the higher floors she is self contained. I don't believe I'll have any troublesome smokers like I did before. Like I stated previously most smokers, including myself, know better then to smoke in a non smoking building. Hopefully that was the only time I will run in to it. Thanks again!

I'm jealous of both of you! I've only been home a day and I'm trying to figure out how to return! Like I said before, the Poly and the whole Disney experience was wonderful! We could have only enjoyed it more if we could have stayed longer to just "enjoy" all of our surroundings.

Anytime I've stayed on a first floor of a hotel/motel I haven't liked it. One time at a very nice Sheraton we had ANTS! I just assumed that because we were on the first floor we were more susceptible to bugs. Also I've noticed first floor rooms seem to have a greater chance of being damp and moldy. Am I totally making this up in my head??? LOL Or has anyone else thought that???

TigrLvsPooh, no it's not all in your head, I completely agree with you. We've had ant and other bug problems when staying first floor at some other hotels. But not Disney hotels, because I've learned from past experience and now stay only on upper floors. I know some people love it but it's not for me.

I think it is roughly the same distance from Figi to the boat stop and the monorail. I think the monorail is quicker when traveling to the magic kingdom, but when leaving the magic kingdom sometimes the boat is faster because the monorail line tends to be longer.

actually from Fiji you have to walk around the Marina to get to the boat dock which due to the crowds around that area and pool might take longer than from other areas.
