Hi, considering a trip in July, just wondering how the Poly pool is- we've never stayed there, we've been to YC, CR, and CBR so we are familiar with their pools. Is it big enough to handle the summer crowd? How is the slide? Thanks much!

we just got back. The main poly pool is right by the beach/lagooon and it is a walk in. It is not as big as BC but it is a good size. There is no jacuzzi's and no baby pool per say. There is a fountain splash area right off the pool that randomly sprays water out of the ground. kids LOVED that. The slide looked fun but dd is only 3 and did not go on it. It is up thru the volcano. There is also another quiet pool as well that was almost empty every time we walked by it. There were little "huts" that had ceiling fans with tables in them around the quiet pool. If it was truly hot, that is where I would be....

I have a question to add...

I thought I had read at one point that the pool at the polynesian had music piped into it? Is that *IN* the water or just in the pool area?

(If it is my technical side wants to know what type of speakers they're using to put music into the water :D, how cool would it be to have a big whirlpool bathtub with music playing into the water? Ahh, someday... maybe when I'm rich...)

They have speakers throughout the resort outside by the marina, lagoon and pools that play tropical and hawaiian type music. I don't remember anything about inside the pool...

It's true! Hawaiin music is played UNDER the pool water! The underwater speakers are great!

Do you think that the Poly pool is a good choice in the summer as far as the pool is concerned or is the GF or CR resort's pools better? Just wondering...
I would like to stay on the monorail line.

You can't go wrong with staying at the Poly. The Volcano pool is so cool, that saying it's cool doesn't do it justice! LOL!

The theming of the Volcano pool is great and hearing the Hawaiian music that they play outside around the pool is even better hearing it from the speakers under the water. It's really neat to swim under water and hear Hawaiian tunes. Everyone that I met at the top of the Volcano slide was impressed with how beautiful the Poly and it's grounds were. I think the CR pools are quite lame in comparision. The only thing the CR has over the Poly is that they have a hot tub and the Poly doesn't. I heard the Poly may be getting one soon, I hope! The Rock pool at the GF is nice also and they have hot tubs too. I have seen the quiet pool at the GF and it looks real nice also. The Poly is laid back compared to the GF. I don't think you can go wrong with either the Poly or the GF. I wouldn't choose the CR for swiming though. pirate:

The only down note I would add is I've seen quite a few people complaining that the volcano pool gets way too crowded in the summer or busy times. Of course there is a quiet pool if the themed pool is too busy.

One more thing. We were coming back from Epcot and watched a huge family of about 8 come off with snacks, shovels pails etc... to go to the Poly pools saying they were from All Stars. I really think they need to do what they did with Beach Club. It isn't fair for people to pay a few hundred a night and have to share the pools with people paying value rates.

Well last time i was in Disneyworld was in 1998 (im from Denmark, so even the plane ticket is expensive). I remember it clearly that i said to myself, one day i will be staying at Poly, but now when im finaly going back to Disneyworld, i wont be staying at Poly, but BC and WL.
Why you might ask?, because even though i like the Poly theming alot, i dont like the fact stated by lots of people who has actualy stayed there, that too many people who is not a paying guest at Poly comes there and uses the volcano pool.
I mean, sorry for my way of expressing myself, how stupid-lame-cheap can someone be, to take the monorail or bus from ones "homeresort", just to use somebody elses pool. If those people whants to use the volcano pool that much, then save up the money needed for your trip, and then PAY for staying at Poly.

Just my 2 cents! Sorry if i offended any of you guys!.

I completely agree. When I have stayed at the value resorts, I have used their pools and LOVED them. Maybe there isn't a slide, but we still enjoy the theming and I am okay once I have a drink and am lounging in my chair. Have you seen photos of the main pool at Pop? It is just TOOOO adorable!

I will be at the Poly in just three weeks!!!!!
