Poly or POR

I know most of you are probably saying "Duh" but here's what I'm wondering: Should I spend more money on a resort and have less to spend on other things or should I save money on my resort and have more to blow in the parks, restaurants, etc.?

My ressies are for 5 nights poly and 3 nights POR. I could cut my poly nights down to 3 and increase POR to 5. I kind of feel that staying at a special resort will really make our trip special and blowing money on trinkets and stuff is a little less important. I am planning at least one sit down or character meal per day so I don't think that I'm scrimping too much in that area. But then again when I think of how much I could cut out of my budget if I just stayed at POR the entire time I start second guessing myself. What would you guys do?

By the way it will just be me and dd's (7 & 8) this trip and dd 8 just loves Lilo and Stitch and is really excited about staying at the Poly. Our first and only trip was Christmas of '99 and we stayed at CBR and this trip might be the last one for quite awhile and we may not get good enough rates at poly again.

go ahead stay at the Polyn - just make sure that is the end of your stay - and try to make a time when the fireworks will be going off at the MK - see them from the beach if your room does have a castle view. Your girls will love it.

Hi Spiceycat- I actually had planned on Poly for the first 5 nights because I thought it would be such a neat place to start our vacation. Close to MK, EWP, etc. Why do you think we should do it last? Thanks for your input!!

I might do it last, because you are likely to be a little tired, and have some of the initial excitement about "getting to the parks"!!! out of the way. You could spend more time enjoying the special things at the Poly. It would be a shame to spend the extra money to stay there and be too worn out to enjoy it from getting to the parks at opening and staying late for parades, fireworks, etc.

Wow, my two favorite resorts. :) I thought about going to the Polynesian along with PORS like you are but we are going to Universal too and that seemed like too much resort hopping. Besides the extra money is nice. ;)

I agree that you might want to save the Polynesian for the end of your trip if you can. It's more restful and easy to be there than at PORS IMO.

I would definitely do the Poly second also. You will be all charged up and ready to jump in the car every morning for the first few days, but by the time you get to the Poly, the monorail access will be like heaven!

Yikes, this is getting harder and harder!! One of the factors in all of this that I failed to mention in my OP is that a friend of mine and her son will be joining us on day 4 and Poly is a little bit out of her price range so that was one reason we were switching to POR. So that puts a new twist on Poly second, unless we did a midweek to midweek trip instead of a Sat-Sat trip. Or maybe my friend could do the first 4 days (Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues) instead of the last 4 (Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat). That's a thought.
