Poly or CR?

We stayed concierge GV when we stayed there as well. We enjoyed being able to run to the lounge and get breakfast, snacks and especially drinks! It really paid for itself in our case, plue we could see the fireworks at MK and the water parade through the giant windows. We always figure if we can pay the extra and actually get stuff for "free" (not really!) we would rather do that for the convienence rather than pay for a view. We stayed in a lovely GV room and it was so tropical feeling!

I don't really think that extra $100 per night is worth it...

Both times I stayed at the Poly, I was in a GV room... I never felt far from the lagoon view because of the beach and pool's castle view. It is also fairly likely that you will have some type of water view from a GV room. Unless you will be spending lots of time in your room, I would save the extra money for dinners, etc.

:cheer2: Ok, I booked Lagoon view at the Poly. The tower was going for 345 per night, however I am still numb at the 400 per night rate I booked at the poly, and that is even "value" time too!! The garden view is 304, now my next question.....is the lagoon view really worth an extra 100 per night? Thanks again!! :grouphug:

Oh man you had to ask, well let me just tell I had regular garden view until I upgraded at the desk to Concierge Lagoon view. ($1400 extra).

We watched Wishes every night from balcony for 10 nights believe it or not. Then it was crawl into bed for my 2 and 6 year old who were already passing out (Wishes starts at 10) and they were wiped. So was that view worth $100 extra (yes for that trip) but next time I could probrably just walk down on the beach that was never really crowded (this was end of June).

Now Concierge on the other hand, I'd pay for that before Lagoon View. Convience of having milk, soda, bagels, pastries, cocktails, and cookies on demand on awesome, or and the food offerings were great too.

Have fun in whatever you decide

Ok, so garden conceirge? It is 410 per night, but at the time I called not available. Where is this lounge compared to the rooms? I don't know if my 2 yr old will be up to traveling to lounge to watch happenings at the kingdom, I was sort of hoping to see that stuff from our Lagoon/MK view room for 400 per night. Am I hoping for something that will not happen? The rooms now come w/ a free fridge so I am not concerned about the snack/drink thing. If my kids were better eaters/older that might be a selling point, but I was hoping to stock my fridge and room w/ our own snacks and stuff. thanks for all the info your are providing you are helping me so much, keep the info coming. Now that we are on the subject, what dining should I take advantage of at the resort? thanks again... :grouphug:

If your looking for fireworks from your room you may or may not get to see them. Most views I believe (Lagoon) look at the castle (which is pretty far away). Some lagoon views do not.

The Concierge lounge is on the second floor of the Hawaii building, easy to get too, but I too have a 2 year old and liked staying in the room.

Not that you need more advice, but...

I cannot imagine cramming my family (same ages) of five into a hotel rooms at Poly or Contemp for $400/night.

We stay in the Ft. Wilderness Cabins for less than half that price. Sleeps 6 and has a full kitchen. Lot's of places for the kids to run and roam around.

After an exciting day, our kids get a nice, quiet, dark, separate room to fall asleep in. Usually a couple hours later until mom & dad are ready to zonk.

I always appreciate advice!!! However as fun as the cabins seem, I am trying to get away from my kitchen and fixing food while I am on this vacation!! LOL I also just love the tropical theme of the poly and the kids are so excited about the volcano pool (they loved the monorail at the contemporary but the pool won them over at the poly.) I also heard there is some sort of pirate cruise or something onthe lagoon. I have to find our about that!! thanks again pirate: :earboy2: princess:

It's called "Pirate Treasure Hunt Cruise" is run by the Grand Floridian. We have not done it but others have posted that their children really enjoyed. It's $30/child, for children 4-10, runs from 9:30-noon and includes lunch. Additional details are available on the GF site.

Think whatever you decide for your Poly. room, you'll be happy. Can definitely see with a little one how nice it'll be to watch fireworks from your room. :flower1:

My son did it when it first started back in 2000 when he was 4. He had kid's on there of all ages. HE LOVED IT! He is 8 now and when he found out we were going on this upcoming trip, the first thing he asked was if he could do the cruise. When he was on the cruise my DH and I followed the boat around on water mice and they looked like they were having a blast! They search for treasure and he still has his red priate bandana that he got! He won't be doing it this trip though because we all remembered most of the kids being between 4-7 and he is almost 9. He said this trip he would rather ride in the water mice/sea ray boats instead. He is much more into speed these days! Still, it is very cute and I thought it was a nice little treat for him- the CM's were fantastic.
